Two faced city fans

Most Monchengladbach fans seemed to have one, so its not just tourists or people attending their first game. I don't understand them personally, but can't say I worry about them either, if people want to waste their money on a scarf with another team on it, then that's their loss.
I wouldn't buy an half an half scarf myself .
But I can see why some folk might .
Its like buying a programme .
Its something to remember the match you've been to .

I always thought the half and half scarves gave the away fan a level of safety by showing their colours but not showing who they actually support, a kind of "I'm a neutral fan".
Or perhaps they are just collector items similar to the match programme.

And hit the nail on the head. We don't actually have a "home end" and that, in my opinion, means we'll rarely have the atmosphere we should have.
It's a new age now. It's not the dark days of the 70's & 80's thankfully. I think it's a sad day when people get started on, for wanting to watch their team play. Unless they take the piss, I don't see the problem with away fans getting in the home end to watch a game. Plenty of our fans do it on Euro aways. I don't understand the mentality of people who want to attack away fans for wanting to watch their team play.

What would you do when they do. (did).

The day I buy a half and half scarf is the day I give up caring, so the day day I stop going. They are an abomination.

there was about 8 or so in 111 who celebrated their first goal, they got a lot of stick and were kicked out before it got nasty.

Best post of the thread.
Thank you guys for the nice words, but i have to say some more.

The visit in your stadium was like a commercial event. The impression that I had was: the perfect fan goes 2 minutes before the game inside, und left this 1 minute after the game, only watch the game quiet and to make it perfect please buy some things in our stores.

I feel no fan culture in your area and at the whole stadium. When in Mönchengladbach the game come to a Event like at your place, I would quit to watch football games. Theres no soul and athmosphere..

And then after the 4:2 was scored, your fans shoutedgloating things to our block. You are quiet the whole game! We support all the time and made a good athmosphere. You are the motherland of football and then 5000 germans must come to show you how to feel football and stay behind the club we support. We show what it means to love his Club. I never had that feeling only one second in this game on your side. In your situation I would shame me.

I can not take it seriously when I saw city supporters left and right from our awayblock when they sing gloating things to us at the end of the game - in my eyes you have nothing what could you be proud, except a team what is bought with lot of money and win against a club which had not in the slightest the finance you had.

I prefer to loose every game against you before we “celebrate” a game on your way.

That is not meant to be mean, for me it’s the sad truth.

You can not buy the soul of football – your club sold it with every pound they invest for his idea of it.

I preferred your first post. It was less sanctimonious.

I know, mate. I had the misfortune of being in the Stretford End once for a derby. Perhaps I'm just a romantic and would love to see us all enjoy the game together, and getting pissed together before, during and after a game.

In an ideal world we would have the choice, areas where home and away fans could mix, other areas for people who just want to watch the game sat among fans of their own team. If City made it clear that certain blocks would be designated as mixed seating then people would know what to expect. The problem would be that there would be season card holders in those blocks that would not want to move and would not welcome away fans sitting next to them. And there's always the possibility that those blocks would attract people who were out to cause trouble.

The convention whereby away fans in the home ends do not wear colours and keep a low profile isn't ideal but its helped keep the peace for the last 20 years, after decades of violence. Its meant that I have been able to attend some away games knowing that I wouldn't be attacked or abused by home fans when I've sat with them. I've been to matches where the home fans around me have guessed that I'm an away fan (because I haven't celebrated their goals) but haven't given me grief and wished me a safe journey home at the end of the game. Its not ideal but its probably the most practical arrangement in this country.

You were doing ok until the end bit. The issues with atmosphere at home games has been that way since we moved into the City of Manchester Stadium ( for various reasons ), that was when we were broke so you can stick that last line up your fucking arse because it's pure shit.
