Two more retail companies look doomed

I cannot believe that tie rack and sock shop still exist... how many punters a week get caught in birmingham new street station in sudden need of a tie..

American Golf “saved” today
Got a good deal for my clubs there 3 years ago but ended up with a red/white/black bag which I can just about pass off as an away kit, wanted the ladies bag with blokes ckubs which was city blue but they wouldn't split a pair of sets...suppose they won as I still bought but customer servicewise I'd go elsewhere next time.

The internet is killing not only the high street but also the retail parks and shopping centres.

We are all to blame as we look to save money on every purchase we make these days.

We are, but there also needs to be a fundamental re-think about the high street and things like business rates. Companies rise and fall, but online has a huge cost advantage that needs addressing. Unless we're happy to see deserted town centres, anyway.

Absolutely mate. Retail rates and business rates are completely out of hand and unaffordable for the vast majority.

Again government needs to understand that money in the pocket and spending is what grows the economy.

Wasn’t Ashley first step on acquiring House of Fraser to go to town councils to renegotiate rates? Those who weren’t willing are the towns where the stores will close which is incredibly short sighted on their part. The lost footfall will impact smaller businesses, more closures, less rates revenue etc etc...
