Two Year Academy Transfer Ban Imposed On City

Strange punishment. We may well make up for the shortfall by signing kids from overseas, thus reducing opportunities for English kids.

Clearly some of you guys don't understand academy football. You can't sign players from outside the UK till they reach u17 level. With Brexit this might change further.

I'm amazed it's taken this long. In every single age group we have 4 or 5 lads 'stolen' from other clubs. Just in under twelves down there's around ten boys tapped up from likes of Everton, Liverpool, United and Blackburn. We are overly aggressive and eventually others will complain. The fact one of our senior recruitment team recently left to join Liverpool presumably has added weight to these allegations that have surrounded our youth recruitment for years.

Disappointed in the club. City are a big target and we should have been much more careful, we can't get away with it even if other clubs can and do.

However, pretty obvious to me that there has been some whistleblowing from somewhere, and given concerns raised by some of our competitors against our programmes and facilities in the very recent past. I would hope that we are looking for such instances with other clubs to point out to the FA.

I do hope this is nothing to do with the rags signing some of our youth scouts recently and them lifting the lid. If so then we do the same, pay for dirt on our rivals and stitch them up, no way we are the only ones doing this, no excuses but no way are we alone in this.

Whichever is true, individuals are accountable and there have to be some repercussions within the club. If we clear knew the consequences and management authorised it, remove them. If individuals acting off their own backs, remove them.

When we want a player for the first team the first thing do is look around the world for that player not our academy so this will have no effect whats so ever!

Not Arsed.

Well you are of course correct. Fans do not understand the recruitment of kids.
However it is just as naive to believe City are worse than some other clubs in this.
As I said before as the size of the club increases it gets more and more difficult to control. We do have unscrupulous employees, that i am sure, as do other clubs.

What does it matter? None of them will ever get a game for the first team anyway.

Coming from a background of coaching American football, I can tell you that our club needs to take a long hard look at itself.

Literally.

Most sports organisations worth their salt employ an in house compliance officer, whose job is specifically to ensure this sort of stuff gets caught within the organisation before it becomes an issue.

Major egg on our face, just like FFP and our joke of a pr dept.

Personally, I'd take Garry Cook back tomorrow as he had his eyes on everything and not just commercial growth like Soriano.

No compliance officer would have picked up UEFA changing FFP interpretations once it was too late to do anything about it.

But struggling to find a good excuse for this one.

I expect it'll be Everton next, then that gives the rags a clear run. Serves us right do caning the ****s about 10-0 at every age group for the past few years. I'm pretty content if this is the worst the FA (Gill) can think of. Hopefully this summers transfers will really upset them.
