Txiki Begiristain

He has done a great job buying, pep is getting what he wants, the top names are very difficult to get away from their clubs,Bonucci for example or 100m quid as in pogba, sell a few and it's been a great summer and i am not his greatest fan usually

I always wonder if Mansour of Khaldoon ask Txiki: "Btw, why didn't we spot Stones in 2013 when he was still a Barnsley player". "Why didn't we took our gambles with Sane when he actually played for Schalke at the Academy-stadium only 18 months ago".
Just saying, there's more to Txiki's work and responsibillity than posting on a picture with a new player signing his contract. Than again, it seems Txiki has started the trend in a way by getting young talents for relatively small money in as well.

It would have been a waste of money seeing that our previous manager wasn`t a lover of playing youngsters.

Didn't really want Stones or Nolito, absolutely delighted we got Gundogan. Decent window.

Getting Stones in just before that official deadline could be a very useful bit of timing.

Buying anyone off a Premier League team is going to become increasingly impossible, so to nail down both Sterling and Stones as homegrown players for the next 5 years at least could be invaluable, given the paucity of english talents. Really we could have done with a couple of long term english players a couple of years ago when prices were a little less insane, but it's hard to really see who they would have been 3 years ago as there wasn't any talent about. I've always had reservations about Stones, but hopefully Pep can give him the full Pique treatment and hide his defensive issues by never letting the other team have the ball.

He's smashed it out of the park so far. Any other signings will be the cherry on top.

I guess you mean youngsters from our own academy. I like to think Pellegrini played a handfull of those in his pre-season matches. Let's see how many youngsters from last years' academy Pep will use.
I will get back to that one later in the season and on another thread.
