The problem has been a strange lack of strategy - look at the mess Chelsea were in last year yet the combination of getting a tough no nonsense manager in and buying Kante seems to have reinvigorated the entire club. In other words they identified 2 weak spots and dealt with them. With us we seem to have no real plan in place which is staggering - how on earth can we end up with four fullbacks - which in Pep's system is a key position having plenty of possession and needing pace - that are 33,34,32 and 31 years of age with their best years behind them? Acquisition has failed, we approach it like the Harlem Globetrotters and waste so much time and energy trying to buy certain players without building a team.
 
However you look at it he's been piss poor.

Years & years waiting for their chosen one and he's got nowt to work with and Pep appears to have no idea either.

Been out all day don't know which I am ....pissed up or pissed off with the whole fucking thing.

The decision to totally neglect our full back positions for the last 2 seasons is completely mystifying as nobody can even begin to think we had enough cover or quality.

I certainly think everyone can agree we have invested far to heavily in attacking/flair midfielders at the expense of keepers,fullbacks and strikers. We have tried with centre backs but they haven't been convincing

Perhaps we thought the two youngsters coming through the Academy could do a decent job as full backs,Maffeo and Angelino.Pep takes a look and isn`t convinced they`re quite ready,hence hanging on for another twelve months.They would have played more time IMO had both Zaba and Kolarov had gone overseas.Both were very near to leaving.Who knows but it is mystifying.
