It's just unprecedented how bad our defensive situation is.

Otamendi and Stones are the only 2 who should be here next year.

We literally need replacements for Kompany, Mangala, Zabaleta, Sagna, Clichy and Kolarov.

2 centre backs.
2 left backs.
2 right backs.

How has this happened. Where are we going to get 6 world class defenders from and how much is it going to fucking cost us!? Another £200m? It's fucking awful. We can't do this in a half arsed way. We need to be getting these 6 signings right but the only players who will fit our system like Laporte are going to be fucking hard to sign now everyone knows how desperate we are.

The midfield situation is getting worrying as well with us still playing Yaya and Fernando far too much.

But at least we have Sane, Sterling, De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus. We are legitimately stocked in young attacking talent but the rest of the squad... shocking.

Re the full backs, we really need two, one for each side and both have to be first choice. We can get away with Sagna and Clichy as second choice for another season

As for a centre half and Van Dijk, we should say to Southampton that we want him now, make a take it or leave it offer of £40m + add ons and make it clear that if they refuse we will not return

IMO, with the way we want to play, I would turn Fernandinho into a centre half

I respectfully disagree. Clichy has been poor since the 11-12 title and Sagna is what? 35 next season? We can't do this half arsed any more. A cull has been needed for 3 seasons now. Fernandinho again isn't a long term solution.

Hope we do get Van Dijk and those 2 Atletico defenders who we've been linked with. I don't know enough about them but we need bodies and let's just hope whoever we get doesn't end up being a Mangala mk2.

Neither do i,but the club very much do unfortunately,and it seems to be a success.

City winning or losing is what counts, but if the Academy generates top players then it will be worth it

There are supposed to be some excptional players coming through, or is that all talk? None of the current successful teams in the Premiership are founded on young players coming through the ranks. It happened once at utd. And they were unable to repeat it. A one-off.

We've bought a team of average players: Bravo, Delph, Mangala, Bony, Navas, Jovetic, Demichelis, Otamendi, Garcia, Rodwell etc and so as mancini's team ages the current stars like KDB and Silva are left alone to hold the tide. Impossible job. After some doubts I think Guardiola can rebuild City. I thoguth he made some ridiculous decisions exposing a very weak defence, but on the other hand our strength is our attacking play. perhaps we'd be better off accepting we cannot defend and just go all out and attack teams. And in the Summer buy two good full backs,
