I very much doubt HRH Mansour micro-manages City but trusts those given responsibility for key areas of his business. Should we blame him for showsec also?

Will he have sat down at the start and gave his vision to Khaldoon and told him who and what he wanted? Yes he would imo and the fact managers have gone over to speak to him tells me he does keep his eye on things.

Showsec? WTF are you going on about frank?

My point exactly. One of his many investments, hopefully he'll be on to Khaldoon about the poor management during the last 3 seasons.

Of course he doesnt. A quick look on the internet shows the number of interests and responsibilities he has.

He would probably be the first to admit he is not an expert in football and would not have the time too be, so he will naturally take guidance from those who are 'experts' within the field.

Because fans spend their life thinking about their club they think HRH will be also. Its just one of a couple of hundred responsibilities he has.

I think its all about building the brand of Etihad. No one wants a part of the business dragging the brand down so I bet he's pretty pissed off.

He's not a football expert so I don't expect he had a "vision". What I assume has happened he was pitched several ideas when he bought the club. Cook was in charge when Mansour too over, he didn't pitch him the "Barca" model.

After Cook left we clearly have gone in a different direction.

It is not rocket sciene your inference that we should blame HRH is anyway valid.

For argument sake lets say HRH set the vision he wanted City to replicate Barcelona. I have reservations that the vision would be any more detailed than playing attractive football and being successful, rather than stating we need a la Masia style training complex or a high pressing game etc. the details would be determined by the 'experts' tasked with delivering it.

There is nothing wrong with that vision, we would all want City to play like that and win the same amount of trophies but he would have relied upon the footballing 'experts' to deliver this and if this was not feasible in the Uk adjust accordingly.

The failing is the way it has been executed and the way the money has been squandered trying to achieve it. Thats the responsibility of those in positions of responsibility as its unlikely HRH has any influence on this with the exception of sanctioning the financial support.

So the point is HRH does not micromanage the running of the City so I do not know how he can be blamed for continual failings in the transfer market.

Those in situ when he took over are not his men mate and have no real bearing on the debate here.

I dont have an issue with you claiming he is no football man because he clearly isnt and i dont for a second think he spends his days constantly thinking what can he do to improve us but i do think he will have had a vision when he bought us because men like him dont blunder their way through life and thats the point i am making.

I only pointed it out because a poster said the man with the vision is to blame and imo, thats Mansour.

Anyway, Txiki........needs to pull a few rabbits out of the hat and quick!

I honestly think his "vision" was to raise the profile of Abu Dhabi, not his love for football. A successful Man City is good for brand "Abu Dhabi".

Agree completely but to do that, he would have wanted an incredibly successful and world wide appealing City and who better than to try and model a club on than Barca, especially so if he was a bit of a fan himself and who doesn't enjoy watching Barca in their pomp?

Im not saying its right or that it is working 100% because i dont think it is and some things have to be just us, City and not some form of Barca lite but i dont own or run the club mate.

He will undoubtedly be as reflected by Khaldoon in the post season addresses on the website. HRH has backed the club to the hilt financially. There is no guarantees in football but we have morphed into a side with little physicality/desire to win the ball back and weaknesses in key positions. Its a consequence of continually buying the same type of player, failing to adequately replace ageing players with better alternatives, which inturn leaves areas like Fullback under prioritised. When was the last time we went through a summer transfer window without buying a centre half? and we are still no further forward in looking secure in this position.
