We lack pace, athleticism, energy and a fair bit of desire when things are going against us.

The pace, energy and athleticism will change once we can get Sane, Sterling and Jesus on the pitch, but that will be in wide areas.

However, the fullback situation is a shambles as is the central midfield where we have no bite.

We have no really bullies in the side - we're too soft and there is a catastrophic lack of leadership with Kompany missing.

Around £150m for that lot yet we haven't spent a penny on right or left backs in that period.
Therein lies the problem. The common denominator is that every defender we buy ends up looking shite. Yet, some move on and look half decent (see Savic). If the system, and other defensive personnel, aren't right - we're already fighting a losing battle. The shortsightedness is incredible, it really is, for an establishment that is supposedly high up in the world echelons of professional sport.

I don't really see a pattern in our signings - it seems like we just buy the latest shiny product. We buy Sterling, superb in a counter attacking Liverpool system, and then proceed to play keep ball - the same with Sané often (although he stills looks to beat a man.) Mangala, a dominant physical centre half, and ask him to play keep ball. Either sign players that suit how we want to play, or change the system to suit the players. Granted, these players especially Mangala probably were;t good enough anyway - but asking them to play alien systems to what they are good at, is either blind arrogance or ineptness.

Since our first title win, we have spent a grand total of 5million on fullbacks - the 5million spent was on Maicon who lasted just the one season. We have spent multiple times more on multiple positions.

CM is a similar story, we have spent a decent amount of money on a number of players, but we are relying on a Yaya Toure who is running on fumes.

There just doesn't seem to be a choesive pln on how we are spending money, and that's before we start talking about the poor buys made.

Especially the last bit, is all self inflicted. In search of the holistic masterplan, anyone with anything about them has been carted off. Granted, we don't need problems like Balotelli - but we've now just been left with a bunch of soul-less, shithouse zombies. There's no fight in the squad, we are so easy to get and subsequently cave in, it's untrue.

Why? Anyone can do that, spend huge money on ready made players. Why can't he go out and find similar players at a reasonable price?

Doesn't matter whether anyone can do it or not, all that is important is that we improve the team.

The easy way is to buy proven quality. If we find someone who is guaranteed to be better than what we have for a reasonable price then great, if not then we have to spend what it takes or settle for 6th every season.

100% this. Need some twats in the side, some hard, arrogant bastards who refuse to lose or take any shit.

We've had too many soft arses for too long.
