Txiki Begiristain

His record is dreadful and indefensible 5/6 years in. Himself and the manager have a big summer coming up as the pressure has got to be on them next season. It all seems like easy street from the hierarchy at City, set some serious targets for next season, and if they are not met change it like all top clubs do.

It is difficult to defend both Pep and Txiki. Either Txiki left Pep with a poor squad or Pep is not making the most of it.

A point I've made many times.

For me Txiki is just a cheque book DOF, throwing money around hoping he gets lucky with a few players.

Having said that he should be given another couple of windows to build a team with Pep. That fails he should go.

Ok, so it gets bumped randomly from time to time, but it's a whole new level after a loss and you have few new pages immediately. :)

People sometimes use this place to blow off steam.
Txiki been around a while and we've not progressed on the pitch trophy wise for 3 seasons.
Not all his fault but he shapes alot of what happens in the future, so should be accountable.

Yeah, Sane, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus. Terrible players.

I'd agree on holding on to players too long though.

Let's see him sell Dinho on for sure this season, lad is on a severe decline but some are just too blind to see it.

How about selling Dzeko for 12m and buying Bony for 27m ?

For so long we'e failed to add to/replace the core of 2012 with players of that calibre and consistency.

Hart, Kompany, Toure, Silva, Aguero.

It isn't for want of trying but very few signings have stepped up to that level. They've either failed or been fringe or decoration players. Fernandinho is probably the only one who I'd put in that category and he signed in 2013!.

Does anyone believe Bravo, Stones, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Jesus are the answers? I hope so and some have big futures with us but it's taken 5 years.

In the meantime the rest of the team has undoubtedly gone backwards. The full backs are old. We've never successfully replaced Barry and De Jong (Rodwell, Garcia, Fernando, Delph). Dzeko hasn't been replaced. Okay Negredo briefly did a job but other than the failure of Bony have we even tried to replace him? We've got through loads of centre backs trying to either find a partner for Kompany or a replacement. One area you can argue we have improved is in 2012 Johnson was our only winger and Sane and Sterling are superior with Navas as the other option.

I might get shot down for this but frankly we've wasted a lot of time and money and not improved the team in 5 years.

Pretty much sums up Txiki's reign.

2012 2017
Hart Caballero downgrade
Zabaleta Sagna downgrade
Kompany Stones downgrade
Lescott Kolarov draw
Clichy Clichy downgrade
de Jong Fernandinho draw
Yaya Yaya downgrade
Barry KdB draw
Silva Sterling downgrade
Kun Kun downgrade
Tevez Sane draw, being generous as Leroy is going to be star

Difficult to make direct comparisons as the formations were slightly different. But is there any wonder we are struggling when it appears that many of the players are the same but older/slower. The good news is Gabriel Jesus is going to be better than Kun has ever been. KdB still has time to be more influential than Silva was and Raheem is getting better. Stones may one day be VK's equal.

It does however mean we have to get a quality goalkeeper, 2 fullbacks, a CB to replace Vinnie and a CM to replace Yaya. No tall order that.

haha, I fucking new this thread would be right at the top, stones, sane, gab Jesus, cant think who else we bought ,oh yeah bravo, not really that bad, bravo not shown what he can do, hardly tixi fault, gung Adin looked very good until his injury, so all in all good summer transfer window.
