Txiki Begiristain

I'm sure he has other duties than buying first team players, but it will ask - where has all the money gone?

The worrying thing is, and has been for years, is that we can't shift players. Bony/Benteke are examples of this - both had decent records before they moved but Liverpool got thier money back and Bony is out on loan

So where has all the money gone. Look at the team last night, it still has half the team from 2012!!

Negredo
Bony
Jovetic
Navas
Mangala
Otamendi

Thats excluding the 2012 summer. All players that haven't performed consistently. That's over 100 million there. You've then got bravo and nolito from this year who can't get a look in. It's no surprise we've still got most of the team from 2012, our recruitment is dire. Last summer was hopefully a sign of things to come.

Pep can't be blamed, yet. All the big clubs have good fullbacks, even Spurs and Chelsea do. We could of got some full backs last summer but then we'd probably be short in attacking options. Let's see how we are after this summer.
Not to sure about all the other clubs. Spurs and Arsenal have excellent full backs I'd agree. Chelsea really play with wing backs rather than full backs. Utd seem to struggle with their full backs and an ageing Valencia seems to be their only regular choice. Liverpool have Clyne but after that have Milner who is not really a full back, I think its a position that a lot of teams are struggling with at the moment though I was as surprised as anyone that we did not upgrade last summer particularly at left back.

Spending +120 million pound on CBs and its not sorted yet !

Fernando, Navas and Delph became useless to the team, we are only using them occasionaly !

Don't care what he's spent in the past but this summer he needs to get his finger out and sort that embarrassment of a defence out.

So it's another 4-5 players in on 5 year deals to go alongside the current crop on existing contracts with 3-4 years to go- where and when do some of our promising youth players fit into this - or is it going to be a finishing school where they disappear through lack of first team opportunities?

I don't know Garcia was excellent last time I saw him, he must have an uphill paper round or something

I was mainly on about the big clubs in Europe, they've all got good full backs. I'd say we've got the worst set out of the current top 6, maybe on par with Liverpool and united.

Pep has said many times how important it is for the club and fans to have local lads play in the first team, feel a bit sorry for him because it seems now that spending another fortune on players means it could be on the backburner- he's been left a bit of a fucking mess if you ask me and the DoF hasn't done him any favours whatsoever, next season will be another transitional season with 4-5 players coming in.
Did Conte need a transitional season?

Quite staggering those figures, its obvious that throwing money at it doesn't really work.

It could be worse imagine being Spurs they have only spent 15 million the losers although they are above us and have a better defence. So 500 million gets you a last gasp league win and a couple of league cups that no one seems really bothered about. It's a dear do this football lark. Not even added the wages yet. Billion quid for a title a few years back.

Well done txiki, well done indeed

But we have won trophies, we're going back to Wembley again, and the monies invested gets a return as the club is profitable thanks to the success on the pitch.

Not every signing has worked out, but we have brought Sane and Jesus to the club recently. And Guardiola of course.

There are many clubs in the Premiership who have spent huge sums and been less successful.
