Txiki Begiristain

They are not bad players. What's annoying is when good players play with zero pride. I don't see how anyone makes the connection with Txiki. This is the manager's and the players responsibility. Normally you'd say well sack the manager then, well we have. And perhaps that is contributing a little to the malaise. Maybe he has no stake in city's future and a few of his players are thinking they are on the way out as well. Players like Zab and Kolarov, Demichelis, Bony etc are all talked about as being on their way. We are at the end of an era.

I wonder whether we will be in the Champions League next season. A lot have criticised it, but I really don't want to be watching City in the Europa League next season but I am expecting that that is where we will be playing next season. The players don't seem to be bothered. I have to say the same for Man Utd players too. I've been watching them too and the only players who seem motivated are those that are playing for the main prize. Arsenal, Man Utd, City have put in some absolutely abject disinterested performances.

The signings were better last summer and that can't be denied! Sterling hasn't worked out so far but we were all delighted we got him. Other signings haven't been too bad either......negredo , Fernandinho, navas all have played important roles in our recent success as well. Huge summer ahead and no doubt pep will demand only world class and will have told txiki not to let him down!

Agreed they were, but you could also argue that KDB could have been bought for 18m 12 months earlier.

But not sure he was that player 12 months earlier? How many times have clubs grabbed a player after one top season for big money then they go to fuck? Once he got even better the following season at Wolfsburg then he had to be bought.

But we had been watching him for some time, pre Chelsea.

I also think the same thing will happen with Dybala, we could have signed him last season for a reasonable fee, now he is going to go for crazy money.

Tixki has a reputation as a talent spotter, he has failed miserably on this.

Not really. Can't say if he bought him then whether he would have turned into the player he has. Nor whether we would have been able to buy him for 18m at the time. I'm not convinced Txiki has done a very good job with our first team, and the side Pep is inheriting short of an exceptional summer is a bit lacking, but we can't beat him with too many hypothetical sticks.

I am not beating anybody.

Tixiki has been here 3 years and his signings have been poor in my opinion.

And the most worrying thing of all, virtually every player at the club has stagnated or gone backwards in terms of ability. That's down to poor management and coaching.

Who is responsible for the recruitment of our management and coaches?

We have been treading water for 3 years waiting for Pep, for a club of our stature that is totally unacceptable,

Just my opinion but the majority of his transfers have been woeful.

Delph is terrible, Mangala and Otemendi better lately but not great over all, Fernando is hit and miss, Bony the less said the better and Sterling a huge disappointment (his get out clause is that Pep might make him better somehow). KDB the only standout.

Players not good anymore have been allowed to stay much longer than they should such as Toure and Kolarov. Sticking with Pellegrini also questionable.

His saving grace is that he's convinced his mate Pep to come, otherwise I feel he'd be criticised far more.
The transfers of those players everyone on here were very very happy
Things haven't worked out how they should of for some of those players

For me he is 60% to blame for the current situation. He stuck with a Manager who is repeatedly found lacking against any half decent Premiership Manager including Turtle. He has wasted the golden years of the 2011/12 squad. He has bought badly. He has sat on his hands as Yaya's agent takes the piss out of the club. He has allowed the squad to age without a strategy for going forward.
Yes we have a chance of winning a golden prize but it feels like we have bet the housekeeping money on a rank outsider. If Pep was a mate of Tony Pulis would we have had to put up with 3 years of that shit as well.

Regardless of fans opinions on this site, your average Joe, is not negotiating transfer fees, looking into a players background, analysing individual performance etc.

Many had reservations about Bony and interestingly a lot of the comments from Swansea fans, when he left, about his workrate, movement, first touch have rung true.

Not one City fan expected us to pay 44 million for Sterling. He was ridiculously overpriced on the back if one good season, the previous year and again the comments of Liverpool fans, put down to sour grapes, are starting to ring true.

Mangala was so highly rated he was behind the likes of Koscielny and Sakho (liverpool) in the pecking order for the French team and yet we paid plus 30/40 million dependent upon which figure is accurate.

Delph was a good buy, in the sense he was 8 million and Home Grown, not based upon ability. A necessity based upon a failed recruitment policy, even though we were aware of the ruling for HG players. Why we bought a back up keeper, taking up a foreign spot, with this ruling around the corner is another failed strategy. It also probably resulted in us overpaying for Sterling.
