Txiki Begiristain

Where have i said they have spent the same as us?

I didn't.

They have however spent huge sums, on very good players.

Fuck me, the BBC with their little tweets on how much our side costs compared to Leicesters, even when they are playing the rags has worked pmsl.

What are you on about. You have said, and I quote "every club at the top of the Prem has spent shit loads of cash'

According to the Transfer League Spurs have spent Zero over the last five years, Leicester have spent 55 million over 5 years, less than the cost of De Bruyne and Arsenal have spent 100 million less than the cost of De Bruyne and Sterling.

We have spent 6 times the amount of Leicester who arrived at this level without the likes of Yaya, Silva, Kompany, Zabba, Hart etc already in situ.

Nothing to do with the BBC but a discussion about our recruitment policy.

Frank, with respect, I cant be arsed arguing the point with you.

If you are not trolling the thread about the media bias it seems you pick another bone to go at.

Net spend...you sound like the spurs fan we had that was convinced they had never actually spent a penny.

That is fine mate. No hard feelings. I am cheesed off about yesterday.

I think we have wasted vast sums, on overpriced, poorly motivated players and not sure how we are now struggling to match the points totals achieved at the start of this transition into a top club.

I think in some respects you agree, just a differing opinion on how bad it has been. No trolling though, it is what I believe.

Yes we did. It does feel a bit different this time. This will be our lowest points total since Bobby Mancs first full season in charge when we are at the start of the cycle and the components were not fully in place.

The regression has been huge over the last two seasons and the pattern of play, being comprehensively thumped, is something not seen for a good few years.

It was different in one way in that we have a CL semi on Wednesday which is clearly our focus and priority. Yesterday's game was just something to get through unscathed. We may not like it but that's the reality. I agree on the league regression and this fetish for getting comprehensively thumped is doing my head in. Thankfully Pellers only has two games left in which to indulge his odd fetish.

I agree Bob but Champions lge football is far from guaranteed and few of those players will be starting on wednesday and so you would think those on the periphery like Sterling, Bony would be busting a gut to impress the manager so he may turn to them.

Maybe time is playing tricks but the frequency of heavy defeats has not been the norm for a good many years and this is arguably one of the best squads we have ever had. Think I need the summer to recharge the batteries.

This whole season feels like something we've tried to just get through unscathed tbh. Trying to sneak one more season out of players and manager who really aren't up to it anymore ahead of the real work starting next season. Unfortunately it looks like we've tried to squeeze too much out of too many people who aren't up to it and are paying the price. We've built up an incredible amount of young talent and in the squad we have the basis of a very good team, but all the bit parts or ageing parts are failing at the same time and need to go, none more so than the manager.

Its not football though is it. United have dominated this league for nigh on twenty years as Liverpool did before and clubs like Bayern/Barca/Madrid/Juventus have done in there respective leagues for significant periods.

We have been in a unique position. Not only have we outspent everyone of our rivals, we have not lost any of our best players and had the spine of the team in place for the past 4/5 seasons. Furthermore the club which has dominated the prem for the past twenty years has been in freefall having lost there manager of over thirty years.

We were in a perfect position to fill our boots trophy wise or as Soriano and Begiristain said produce a consistent standard of football. On both counts we have failed. I doubt many other top sides have been hammered with such regularity or have so often consistently failed to beat top 10 sides.

But as far as the big picture is concerned we are well on the way to domination Frank and that is in an era when it is more competitive than ever.

Domestically in the last 13 years (the last 10 of Ferguson and the 3 since he retired) United have won:

PL 5
LC 3
FAC 1 (and poss 2 if beat Palace)

In the last 6 years we have won:

PL 2
LC 2
FAC 1

That suggests to me we are on track albeit 1 PL light because of the shit throwun up in the league. Confident we will beat United's haul in the next 7 years? I am.

Then there is the Champions League. In their 1st 13 attempts they won it once and got as far as a semi-final only on one other occassion. And this was at a time they were dominant domestically. They did then have their run of 3 finals in 4 years including winning it once more. The point tho is that we are progressing as a European force and like;y to be far more succesful than United.

We go on to win the CL this season or next?

Success or failure?

I know which one HRH Mansour will think it is mate and thats not having a go, its the reality.

Too many want everything right now and have fallen for the we have spent loads so it should be happening mantra.

Every club at the top of the PL has spent fucking shit loads of cash, everyone yet most go most seasons will little or no success and that's football.
You are basing your argument on "IF".
IF we do win ,core of the team is still not his signing .
Spend money and expect mediocrity?

In the same way most are basing their arguments.

If we don't get top 4, if we don't win the CL....

True ! we still have to play for top 4 and the CL.
What I am saying is,his signing has been nothing but a failure and he has to take responsibility.
