Txiki & Pep met in Amsterdam yesterday

Or Skype but Txiki has form for this. It also feeds into my impression that we have given up on the season as far as the league is concerned. Pellers has a pot in the bag so that's checked off the list and the club is focused on next season and preparing for Pep. The CL will still be a priority for Pellers and the squad and getting to the QF and/or beyond will be a motivation but the league will be something to just get through as we count the down the days.

I have some sympathy for Pellers and the position he is in with Txiki on romantic jaunts with the new squeeze and the ex left to pack up the boxes while the kids stand around in awkward silence. Thing is I'm not fussed about the league this season either. Just grab a CL spot and let's end this phony war and get to the real one next season.

Mate come off it this league is there to be won! I'll be fuming if we've written this season off already.

As for the meeting we can only speculate. I imagine a number of things were discussed including transfer targets, current squad etc. Maybe something will come out in the next few days as to what some of it was about

It seems more plausible that we can't operate without restriction in terms of incomings, until we have that clear direction of who Pep considers surplus?

If we think of it like that, we really do need to get a hurry up.

Especially so, if we know some players will be happy to sit tight when it comes to leaving, wanting pay-offs, try to impact their own valuation.

No doubt, we would want something like that on lock, to avoid damaging results in our remaining fixtures.

If Pep takes the recent defeats to Leicester and Liverpool as his barometer (I think he's been a voyeur since last summer) then only Sergio is safe.

I think any kind of assessment of the season as a whole leaves him with far more questions than answers. Maybe it's just me but I can't marry Pep's brand of football with our current squad. He's a top coach but he isn't a miracle worker and the notion that he's going to come in and suddenly we're going to see a whole new set of characteristics in these players is a bit fantastical. We can't realistically expect 11 new players but equally if you add in the three big ones from last summer I reckon we will be looking at a team with a total of 9/10 new players.

I love the idea of them meeting up in Amsterdam to discuss Dutch players, because everyone knows you can only discuss players in the country they are from.

So you reckon at least 6 first team signings this summer? That to me is fantastical.
