Txiki & Pep met in Amsterdam yesterday

Even ahead of this news, only the most naive of people would think that Pep wouldn't already be doing some "unofficial" work for the club ahead of his summer move here. Bayern may or may not be annoyed about it but they'd be daft to think he's not already making plans for his time as City manager. At the same time, I'm sure Pep is still doing the Bayern job to the best of his ability and he's professional enough not to let these things impact on each other. It always made me laugh when Moyes made an excuse for United's poor season under him, saying "don't forget but I only started working for the club on July 1st". Yeah, course you fucking did Gollum - so what the fuck were you doing in the 7 or 8 intervening weeks between you being announced as the Rags' next manager and you officially starting work there? I somehow doubt he was sat on his arse all that time doing fuck all!

Considering his performance and the results at The Swamp he might well have spent considerable time in this well-developed pose!

Could be trying to get out of his contract if we fail to make top 4.

Pellegrini might be cunning enough to ensure this with his strange tactics, then they will have to ask him to stay.

After all he is not called the "ENGINEER" for nothing.

Just my own take, as I think Pep doesn't need to have face time with Txiki about any of our targets, not at this stage, anyhow.

I think it's more likely his breakdown assessment of the current playing squad, who he does not want to retained, and his workings/reasoning behind such.

He has carte blanche, but he might still need Txiki to justify such things to Abu Dhabi?

Pep really doesn't have much time to hit the ground running, coupled with the Euros and the trip to China/Far East.

He won't want to spend the first tranche of his time having to speak with players who he won't be taking forward with him, he has no loyalty in that regards, and most of them will be off on holiday or meeting up with their respective national camps ASAP.

I consider this a crucial meet in terms of current squad appraisal and, based on some of our showings since the turn of the year, plenty should be shitting themselves.

Exactly.

Excellent assessment mate. That's pretty much the way i view it too. Next few weeks could be interesting in terms of rumour/counter rumour with regards incomings and outgoings. If this meeting is the final one to plan for the summer incomings/outgoings i would expect agents and the like to be leaking like fuck as word begins to filter out as to who they want to keep, who they want to sell, and who they want to buy.

It seems more plausible that we can't operate without restriction in terms of incomings, until we have that clear direction of who Pep considers surplus?

If we think of it like that, we really do need to get a hurry up.

Especially so, if we know some players will be happy to sit tight when it comes to leaving, wanting pay-offs, try to impact their own valuation.

No doubt, we would want something like that on lock, to avoid damaging results in our remaining fixtures.

If Pep takes the recent defeats to Leicester and Liverpool as his barometer (I think he's been a voyeur since last summer) then only Sergio is safe.[/QUOTE]
