U18's games/results 2016/17

It's really crap isn't it? Wish they'd just give me the job ffs. Ha. I'd look after it, edit the clips, do the social media and everything for the academy stuff happily.

At the Alex, we don't even get highlights for any of the youth games at all which is even more frustrating than having them occasionally when trying to follow the youth games.

I don't know all the details of the game today at the Carrington swamp but a 2.2 draw after being behind twice is a good result.I think Utd are top of the league by a point although we have a least 2 games in hand and we remain unbeaten at 18's level now for over a year.

My United academy following friend said City really should have won it. We were the better team apparently, which is a good sign. We're one point ahead of United with two games in hand. Still unbeaten this year. https://www.premierleague.com/tables?team=U18

I watched up to the Chelsea game kicking off - we hit the post about 3 times and it was the usual story of creating lots of chances and not finishing them, then conceding.

The united lads tried to really press high up but city passed around the press brilliantly - in a way I could only hope the first team could.

There's a little piece on the OS about the derby where they talk to Phil Foden: https://www.mancity.com/news/academ...-man-united-v-man-city-reaction/1480779539715

Foden said: 'They just kept kicking it long and we knew that if we kept the pressure up we could find a goal. This team always believes we can score.

We didn’t find the goal but we’re happy we were able to put so much pressure on them.'

Apparently the rags really do have a 'philosophy' that runs throughout the club. Long may Nicky Butt reign.

Looks like they've given Stoke a bit of a battering today - 5-2. Pretty impressive when you consider most are playing one year up.

Goals from Sancho, Foden, Gonzalez, Poveda and Hardy. They were 4-0 up before conceding a pen and a goalmouth scramble.

Nah, none are playing a year up, apart from Frimpong who's usually a 16 but he's stepped up cos of injuries. It was a team full of first year scholars, so all legit u18s - it's still impressive considering that we could feasibly use Nmecha, Diallo, Brahim, Patching, Duhaney, Davenport etc too if we wanted as they're only second years now and it'd be totally fine. Most u18s teams are a mix of 1st and 2nd years. We're just 1st years so it's very young - younger than basically every other team i'd suspect. It's the 2nd years that are basically playing up, working with the EDS despite their youth.

It was a good game. I don't think we were anywhere near our fluid best but we're just clinical as fuck and moments of brilliance won it really. Foden's goal was sublime - he's some talent.
