Take the fuckers to court City, they really won't want another case against them. Think we're in a strong position here.

Why?

If that story is true it means they likely don’t want to charge us. It’s saying they want to change the rules so that it doesn’t matter where the money comes from as long as you make a profit.

Thats a complete change of how FFP works surely?! No way they can apply the old rules (If this is true) to City.... They know it was anti-competitive and was being used to stop investment.

surely it's an admission of guilt?

In other words.."we've been rumbled as the illegal protectionist front for a cartel of historically wealthy clubs by someone with enough money to prevent us riding roughshod over every competitive principle in football"

If true, I await a) a grovelling apology from UEFA for trying it on in the first place, b) grovelling apologies from their craven lickspittles masquerading as journalists and broadcasters and c) fulsome accolades from other clubs who now have some chance of securing owners with money to invest.

Steady on everyone. If it is true, they'll probably only amend the rules after they've punished us. Just like they did after our 2014 punishment when they tweaked the rules to allow the kind of owner investment that we were punished for

Edit: @Roachy got it in just before me!
You can bet your arse on it mate.

They might well try to, but it makes it a bit awkward to argue on the integrity and importance of the rules if they're changing the rules to say its not important.

Interesting development if true

A cynic would suggest that any possible upcoming two-window transfer ban from FIFA, would fit rather conveniently into UEFA suddenly deciding some of our rivals to make hay whilst the sun shines...

Bayern = squad rebuild needed
Real Madrid = squad rebuild needed
Rags = squad rebuild needed
Liverpool = started knocking on the door

Chelsea = squad rebuild needed X how many clubs couldn't give a feck about them
City = maybe four additions to herald in another ten years of success X how many couldn't give a feck about them

So if this rule changes then finance from related parties won’t matter ?

We can get cash from our owner legitimately ?

I’m confused

But none of these clubs have owners who will pump in hundreds of millions or even tens of millions out of their own pockets.

Obviously we need to be sure that the tweet from City Xtra is true and accurate. If it is it would appear to be a major climb down by UEFA, provoked by advance notification of the judgement in M. Dupont's case or by concern at the outcome of any appeal to the courts City might make. My own view is that Article 101 of tfeu is as explicit a prohibition of any limitation on investment as you can get and this would be the basis of City's case. If I'm right UEFA are trying to preserve the obligation to make a profit (the break even rule) while accepting owner investment. This would have to rule out any action against City because UEFA's record hardly shows a commitment to fair treatment for all. The rules were introduced in 2009 and at the end of the first accounting period in 2014 City had a world record "fine" imposed. A year later UEFA changed the rules to allow exactly the kind of investment City's owners had made whilst also excluding City from it. If they punish City in 2019 for owner investment and then permit it weeks or months later City's lawyers would eat them alive in court. Or it could be even simpler - getting involved in questioning the accounts and sponsorship policies of major Abu Dhabi companies is something UEFA surely cannot be mad enough to contemplate. I think we'd all like to hear PB's views on this new development.

UEFA are in a real mess over this.

If FFP is ruled illegal in April they will have some explaining to do.

They have acted pretty stupidly being dictated to by a Cartel of clubs for fear of a break away. A ruling body should not be in bed with some of the participants of the competition. They are in so much bother if City can be bothered.

The FIFA case is different but hopefully if we are guilty we can appeal and delay.
