I can think of one club who have done much, much worse things than City have ever done and been the subject of relentless media-washing for the past twenty five years. And, if you want to talk about "craven", so in fear of incurring the ire of their feral fans are they that there's not a media outlet out there which isn't stuffed to the gills with ex-employees of the said club as propaganda merchants and apologists.
As for fans as "brainless apologists", perhaps there are some of us who don't impose our hypocritical, simplistic and naive worldview on the manner in which other cultures manage their societies. Or maybe we're just not all supercilious ****s.

As well as Syed, Martyn Ziegler was the one who started things off when he falsely claimed that UEFA had a “concrete case” against us after an investigation, based on Ceferin’s remarks. And last night both Henry Winter & Matt Dickinson were tweeting about the corporate areas being empty right after half-time last night. All four work for The Times. They’re being told to do this without a doubt.Syed simply has an issue with our owners.

I reckon when Murdoch or whoever walks into the newsroom and says “We need a story on City that has a go at their owners. Who’s doing it?” Syed is the equivalent of that kid.
