It made me laugh when Soriano did that set-piece interview with Chris Bailey that was put out on the club website and the journalists were all squealing about how wrong it was that he wouldn't subject himself to "scrutiny" by them. As I said at the time, there's plenty of time for scrutiny of City's case before the CAS - where it'll be scrutinized by proper people who understand complex legal and financial matters, not some dickhead from the ranks of the uninformed, second-rate chancers who seem to comprise the overwhelming majority of British sports hacks these days.

The ‘British sports hacks’ pool, and sports media in general, seems both over-sized and over-inflated in terms of its sense of self importance - which the likes of Sunday Supp, Press Pass etc just stimulate further. I do appreciate we are a nation of armchair sports fans, but our sports media is over-developed, especially when it comes to football, with just too many ‘ column inches’ and too much airtime to fill on radio, tv and pod. Add in all the online amateurs with their blogs, podcasts etc, and it’s feels sometimes like we are a nation of wanna-be sports journalists.
