Don’t you think a statement for either outcome would already been done?
Quite possibly, but if the decision has gone against ourselves, then I think the top brass of our club have got serious questions to answer.

Silverlake and the Chinese I would imagine would be far from impressed, and neither would our manager.

Irrefutable evidence is a strong statement, but would look foolish if CAS disagree, and if we do have irrefutable evidence then I have no reason to believe CAS would not agree with our views and rule in our favour.

We will know for sure later today when they pull out two Real Madrid balls for the draw. Worst case scenario for UEFA is if the ban is upheld but then we win the thing. Be a weird one if we couldn't defend the trophy because we cheated years earlier

Ala Tyson Fury, lineal European Champions. Got a nice ring to it, at least. We could go to the world club cup, as it is FIFA run

“The award shall be enforceable from such notification of the operative part by courier, facsimile and/or electronic mail.“ R59 of CAS.

This suggests that, once the decision is notified to the parties it is ‘enforced’. If it is transmitted today, it is in force from today and there is no reason to keep it quiet. For this reason and my earlier post about the effect on share prices (should it involve a different football club), I don’t see how anybody, save for the 3 CAS judges can KNOW the outcome. I think the club and EUFA find out, definitively, at the same time we do. That’s not to say that people won’t have a feel for how it has turned out, but that’s obviously not the same as knowing.

No they find out before the public. Always.

By a quirk of fate they can’t stitch us up with the worst possible draw because if they do they could potentially stitching up their favourute child, RM, instead

"We are obviously happy/disappointed in the outcome of today's rulings."

plus one of these extra lines ...

"We now hope to move forward in a positive manner with UEFA"

or

"We will await the full details of the award before discussing the matter further"

Far more thought goes into statements than this - even if, on the face of it, it seems like a simple one-liner.

It might be as Ayrshire notes but there is still little reason for such short notice when normally it’s a few days as Projectriver says.

The fact that there are no leaks is nothing to do with they don’t know and more to do with not blabbing after being warned already.

We know what we are accused of so found guilty it pretty easy to prepare a statement for that outcome.

People are vastly underestimating the process of preparing a statement in response to an issue of this magnitude.

Not really the first statement can be the usually response and pretty basic with at the end have we will make a further statement later.

Easy if you are guilty, but we have made very, very strong public noises we are innocent. If our appeal is rejected our CEO and god forbid Chairman are in a difficult position.
Look at it the other satisfying way if we are exonerated, the media and lots of journalists will be in their own difficult position. Now thats a nice thought for the weekend.

should lock the thread until we know the answers.

Too much what ifs etc

Bluemoon is a discussion forum - it stands to follow that people are discussing the CAS hearing in here, as the thread title indicates.

This isn’t supposed to be a news outlet, which only confirms concrete updates on the case. There are plenty of options out there if that’s what you’re looking for.

Exactly brief expressing disappointment and stating we will release a full statement in due course when we have reviewed the decision and our options

The issue is when dealing with people with no shame and no integrity is they don’t have the ability to self-reflect and they certainly don’t have the capacity to apologise with sincerity.

Hence why if we win it will barely be reported and when it is it will be in the light of ‘got off on a technicality’ / ‘bribed their way out of it’.

If anyone thinks the scumbag press in this country will hold their hands up and say ‘we’ve been wrong for years! Sorry City, UEFA are ****s and so are we!’ then you’re going to be in for a sad time. They will move the goalposts and will continue to imply wrongdoing on our part.

So why do they keep it quiet?
“An award pronounced by the CAS is final and binding on the parties from the moment it is communicated. It may in particular be enforced in accordance with the New York Convention on the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards, which more than 125 countries have signed.”

Not only that but: “A party may, not later than 45 days following the notification of the award, apply to CAS for the interpretation of an award issued in an ordinary or appeals arbitration, if the operative part of the award is unclear, incomplete, ambiguous, if its components are self-contradictory or contrary to the reasons, or if the award contains clerical mistakes or mathematical miscalculations.

When an application for interpretation is filed, the President of the relevant Division shall review whether there are grounds for interpretation. If so, she/he shall submit the request for interpretation to the Panel which rendered the award. Any Panel members who are unable to act at such time shall be replaced in accordance with Article R36. The Panel shall rule on the request within one month following the submission of the request for interpretation to the Panel.“

These dates and timelines are fundamental and all state they apply from when the decision is communicated.
Whatever the result, as I asked at the start, why would you keep it quiet if you knew? City/EUFA ‘win/lose’ but that is overturned because the ‘winner’ spilled the beans before Monday? It makes absolutely no sense unless I’m being a bit denser than usual, which is always possible, especially on a Friday.....

Yes a holding statement is “easy” but there’s still a process to go through to reconcile it against the official verdict if we haven’t seen it beforehand.

If you’d written a statement blind would you want to just put it straight out without first checking it’s still appropriate once you’ve seen the verdict? No comms professional in their right mind would do so.

That’s why reactionary comms is so dangerous and the more time you have the better. Therefore I don’t think CAS would expect a process this important (even if it seems a simple one) to take place in a few hours. It’s inconceivable in my eyes.
