One thing that rarely gets repeated on this thread is that both parties stated that they were happy with the proceedings of the CAS meeting.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but City were confident prior and remain so to this day, so I'm of the opinion that it went well.

For UEFA? This may intimate that they are happy with what City have now presented and are content with their "evidence".

I know neither can effect the decision, but I've always been in a positive mood about this.

I’ve always thought that was a possibility but decided it was more likely that both sides were happy from a procedural point of view and had enough time to present all their evidence.

One thing that bothers me about the "irrefutable evidence", is the word believe, why not say we have irrefutable evidence?

That’s still a very strong statement. It’s also been suggested on here that we may have held back some evidence for CAS as we didn’t trust UEFA in terms of confidentiality. Purely guesswork on my part but I’d imagine some of the info we needed to present would be quite sensitive and the club may have been worried about it falling into the hands of our competitors, many of whom hold positions at UEFA. But if we felt it was bad enough the likes of Gill, Parry, and Agnelli potentially seeing it, something else occurred to me - if Al-Khelaifi got hold of it then that would be another level altogether that goes way beyond football politics, given the current relations (or rather lack of) between the UAE and Qatar.

Neither party will be given the decision before very early Monday morning. That’s what I’ve been told anyway. I would tend to believe it as there’s been zero leaks which would’ve come had it been communicated already.

Based only on my experience of High Court proceedings in the UK, where we have had to await a significant time for a judgment, we have always received the decision 24 hours in advance of it being handed down.

That has given us the time to correct typos, correct names of witnesses, examine reasoning, consult with our legal team and prepare press releases much as Projectriver describes. Also, we need to consider the question of costs. I've never known the result to be leaked prior to being handed down and I may be wrong but I have an idea that leaking would, in any event, be contempt of Court. Not sure whether that would apply to CAS though.

On that basis if CAS is anything like the High Court, I'd expecusthe club to have sight of the decision today as the last working day.

Look at it the other satisfying way if we are exonerated, the media and lots of journalists will be in their own difficult position. Now thats a nice thought for the weekend.

If and when we are cleared, "we have lift off" I think are owner will remain quite, unlike his cheque book , I think we will see statement signings!

I would think UEFA and City would both want time to prepare a statement to be released immediately after the verdict is made public.

For both parties the decision is going to seriously effect their futures one way or the other.

Preparing a statement takes an hour. My understanding is that all parties will be informed early Monday am.

I actually agree that the most likely outcome is the ban being upheld, and voted that way in the poll on this thread. I just can’t see us being cleared, however hard I try to understand the reasons for optimism.

That said, I think you’re simplifying too much to say the optimism you’re seeing on here is solely based on the positivity of other posters. The Club has been unequivocal and strident in stating our position that we have done nothing whatsoever to warrant this sanction, and have irrefutable proof to support that position.

People have taken a lot of optimism from the Club’s statements, and trust them to carry through on their words with action in this case - which I completely understand.

The optimism on here isn’t just echo chamber self-delusion - there is plenty to support it outside of this thread.

Depends of course on the CAS view of both sides but up to now I trust our owners much more than I trust UEFA.
If we are proved to be at fault I will reassess my opinion of our owners but until then I value their ownership of my football club.

All things considered UEFA have been absolutely and uncharacteristically quiet. They’ve said nothing about it from day one.
