Martin Samuel with a great takedown of UEFA again.
Turns out UEFA's head of security just happens to be a friend of Ceferin and since given the job (which wasn't advertised, of course), we had the Euro 2020 final fiasco, the Europa League final cock up and the Champions League final embarrassment. Of course he's still in a job.
Other highlights. Since Slovenian Ceferin has been in the job, more Slovenians have refereed major finals than any other nationality. Also a brief shoutout to how when sifting through all of the composers in the world to find someone to write the CL anthem, the job just happened to go to Platini's son-in-law.
But this is the relevant bit for this thread...
Corrupt to the core. These institutions are just a way for people to gain massive influence without actually having to achieve anything themselves. It's amazing that the national leagues constantly allow them to get away with it.

Just as we can guess at why the person selected to investigate what went wrong in Paris is Dr Tiago Brandao Rodrigues, a member of the Portuguese parliament, and a close ally of Tiago Craveiro, who is a senior adviser to Ceferin at UEFA, having worked previously with the Portuguese Football Association. Liverpool are believed to be unimpressed.
Then again, so were Manchester City when one of UEFA's people sitting in judgment on financial fair play turned out to be former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry.
Amazing how these jobs get around, isn't it?
