UEFA Independent Inquiry

We all now what’s happened, and it’s chillingly similar to Hillsborough. A mix of Scouse vermin who can play to the rules trying to jib in, enter with fake tickets meaning over crowding and a police force woefully under prepared and poorly policed. The journalists are a joke they are absolutely shit feared of smearing liverpools name.
Nothing like Hillsborough. The total occupancy at Hillsborough wasn’t the problem. It was the fact they were all in the central pen. The side pens were nearly empty and the police failed to block off access to the overcrowded area and direct fans to the sides.

At the Real semi final names were printed on tickets and checked against passports, and I know at least one person who chanced it and was turned away. The easiest thing to do, surely, would be something similar?

Having read the athletic/times reports, listening to a few eyewitness, and chatted to a few scousers while in Paris, I suspect the report will claim:

- There were some fake tickets, but these have been radically overstated by French authorities.
- That locals were jumping gates, but these have been overstated by British media.
- That there weren't enough gates, the route was poorly organized, and the system broke down too quickly from the pressures above.
- That the police overreacted to the system breaking down.

There's a bit too much glee, and a few too many willing to take Uefa/Paris police's side of the story, due to our rivalry. We'll see, though, I suppose.

The report will not say that.

The stadium has held a World Cup final, countless football, rugby internationls and concerts which appear to (apart from the terrorist attack) gone without incident with the same amount of gates.

Also you don't decide to withold the use of gates, because you need them in an emergency.

Anyone know if there were any issues with Real Madrid fans when entering?

And Arsenal played Barcelona in a CL final there in 2006. Without searching I can't recollect any incidents at that game at all.

There are reports of some but on nowhere near the scale of the liverpool fans. Madrid fans were bussed in by their club from their fanzone as it was much closer to the stadium.
I think an important difference as well is the culture of other football fans. We tend to get to stadiums at the last minute and often pissed and berate the authorities for not letting us in on time.

Very true, Leppings Lane was barely full on either side of the central paddock, the problem was these pens and nowhere to go left or right and very little room to go forward other than climb the fence, altho I think they may have stopped a hillsborough like scenario from happening on Saturday. We all know how packed concourses can get with a full capacity and adding a few thousand in to one that’s already at capacity is a recipe for disaster.

Been mentioned earlier but on this occasion the dippers end of the stadium was quite full way ahead of kick off with loads still outside thus the question was raised, were the majority of snide tkt holders already in causing the genuine tkts to be knocked back?

I’m pretty sure the Liverpool fans got there early for this one. They needed to be in first with their snide tickets before the owners of the real ones used theirs.

I would guess yes. We’ll see if the official enquiry supports that theory fairly soon.
