I’m on a National Express coach. Manchester to Milton Keynes then get on another coach to Luton Airport. Same coming back. Only doing that as used 3x value of my Tesco vouchers so cost me fuck all. Also booked first two nights hotel in Athens through Hotels.com doing the same.
Tight bastard on tour! :-)

I'd say avoid taxis and Ubers from the airport, it's a good 40 minute drive without traffic. Taxis aren't cheap at all in Athens and they'll be out to fleece tourists too. If you have your heart set on a taxi, pre-book one on booking.com, this will lock in the price now. Use cash option on any Ubers so you agree the price beforehand and have to hand over physical cash.

We’ve already been given help from the PL by having our opening game moved to the Friday night.

The only people I’ve ever heard complain about this are Solksjaer and Klopp, and they’re a pair of redshirt wankers. Pep’s never said anything negative about it when it’s happened for us. I even think when asked about it when we were given a 12.30 Saturday game after a Wednesday CL game once, he said it wasn’t a problem.

Playing Friday-Wednesday-Saturday is absolutely fine. Teams play Wednesday-Saturday loads of times over the season with no problems. I don’t think there’s anything to suggest that another day is needed between games from being away in Europe on a Wednesday and a Saturday game. It’s around 63 hours to recover and prepare for the next outing going from a Wednesday night game finishing at 22.00 and a 12.30 Saturday game, that’s more than enough for a sportsman between events.

The game is at 20.00 against Newcastle on the Saturday n’all. It’s then eight days until we play SheffUtd instead of seven.
