We’ve already been given help from the PL by having our opening game moved to the Friday night.

The only people I’ve ever heard complain about this are Solksjaer and Klopp, and they’re a pair of redshirt wankers. Pep’s never said anything negative about it when it’s happened for us. I even think when asked about it when we were given a 12.30 Saturday game after a Wednesday CL game once, he said it wasn’t a problem.

Playing Friday-Wednesday-Saturday is absolutely fine. Teams play Wednesday-Saturday loads of times over the season with no problems. I don’t think there’s anything to suggest that another day is needed between games from being away in Europe on a Wednesday and a Saturday game. It’s around 63 hours to recover and prepare for the next outing going from a Wednesday night game finishing at 22.00 and a 12.30 Saturday game, that’s more than enough for a sportsman between events.

The game is at 20.00 against Newcastle on the Saturday n’all. It’s then eight days until we play SheffUtd instead of seven.

Good knowledge PC. A poster said this a few days back which shocked me tbh. I know we've always managed these games(wed/Sat) well, my only concern was that it was just so early in the season.

Not sure mate, we normally get the metro or a lift. Don't be surprised to be quoted upwards of £200 for taxi journeys across Athens.

Fair enough if there's a flat airport rate, but my suggestion is use the metro for others journeys. It's not like England where everything closes at 8pm, you can go out and have a few beers and get the metro back with no mither.

At the airport I think it stops at 11.30pm and starts up again at 6.30am

Apparently there is a bus from the airport which runs 24 hours a day:

Yes, between 6am ish and 11pm ish.

@Tbilisi the bus will be your best option, it's about 9 quid one way. I will be using either one of these next Thursday so will give an update then. As I say, I normally get a lift off family the other end.
