It's okay, working class area near the stadium. Head to the marina areas near there to socialise, or Monistiraki in the centre of Athens.

I'd say avoid taxis and Ubers from the airport, it's a good 40 minute drive without traffic. Taxis aren't cheap at all in Athens and they'll be out to fleece tourists too. If you have your heart set on a taxi, pre-book one on booking.com, this will lock in the price now. Use cash option on any Ubers so you agree the price beforehand and have to hand over physical cash.
Bit bemused by that, surely the whole concept of Uber is that you know the price when you get in, never been asked for more by any driver before.
I know people were in Istanbul though.

Yes that is the best way. The airport one is one of the more expensive tickets, about 9 euros one way, or there is a bus option for about a fiver.

I get the attraction of having the 3 day pass as it saves you sorting tickets each time, but a single journey is something like €1,20 and valid all over the city for 90 mins. Ticket machines should be available if kiosks aren't manned.
As an old git, do I get discount on transport in Athens. In many islands Ive been refused because I'm not greek?

What is the area Paleo Faliro like? Also how far is it from the airport & what would we be looking at in a taxi/uber? Cheers in advance
It's the area where the football stadium is,and its miles and miles away from the airport....a taxi from the airport to the stadium will cost you a fortune... don't do that, use the metro and in the center of Athens change to the subway... just 9 Euros

I got my code but decided against going. Rather than trawl through the thread how many are going? Does anyone know?
