UEFA Women's Euros | England win final on penalties!

Good luck with that, some men feel that womens football threatens mens football in some way, so have to denegrate it at every opportunity.

I watch both, I prefer the mens game, but also appreciate the skills the women have, but more importantly appreciate how far it's come in a very short time, they are 2 very different games though.
Agree.
Other sports where you do not compare the 2, such as tennis and athletics, are not team sports.
Football, the biggest and most powerful sport in the world, is big enough to have a popular men and women's game.
Enjoy both and applaud and enjoy the differences.
The sportsmanship of the coaching staff and the players, is light years ahead in the women's game though...

GB’s women’s hockey team weren’t derided for winning Gold at the Olympics because the men would smash them.

Your post is spot on.

I don't see the need to compare but i think Southgate was a fraud and very very lucky with draws, tonight Spain were much the better side. The penalty shoot out was just pure luck, both sides were crap at penalties. Just a fact. I believe England got through earlier on penalties when both teams missed more than they scored.?

You may as well pat someone on the head for calling heads. I'm glad England won but they weren't much good at anything apart.from effort.

So well.done for trying in a final.and getting lucky I guess.
One of the most ridiculous posts ever on here.

If we went back and looked at men's football from the 1920s, it would look awful. Sport develops, and for most of my life women have been forbidden from playing football - culturally, if not legally. Anyone trying to compare the men's and women's games looks like a bigot, IMO.

You will get peltars for telling the truth on here with that post

England’s U21 Euro victory is also moot. They’d get smashed by the senior teams.
True that, I watched many of the recent U/21 tournament. Not that many of the players really were U/21 that were playing by the way. There is a big difference between the senior players and the players at that level. Players like Yamal are a one off.

Dug a hole for themselves vs Sweden but dug themselves out of it.

Dug a hole for themselves vs Italy but dug themselves out of it.

Did the same today. England won because they know how to and probably expect to as well. The manager has done a great job - particularly after Earps threw a wobbler & Bright withdrew, allegedly also when learning she wouldn't start according to an Athletic article today.

We won today the only way we could. Be smart and compact, defend for our lives when needed & be opportunistic when a chance came along.

Hannah Hampton had a wonderful tournament, and Agyemang & Kelly can be proud of their efforts - such a pity Kelly mailed in her effort at City for her final 12 months with us but that's on her; this tournament only served to illustrate that she did indeed do so.

Lucy Bronze is a warrior and to play a tournament with a fractured tibia shows remarkable pain tolerance - a fairly common feature for people on the spectrum, and as a parent of such a child she is a wonderful beacon for the Autism community.

Hats off to Sarina Wiegman. She'll go down in folklore and rightly so. Well done to the Lionesses - a wonderful achievement.

In the World Cup 2022, I seem to recall Argentina rode their luck through the tournament and ended up winners. If I also remember correctly, Spain, when playing Morocco, missed all their penalties in the shootout. Perhaps the Spanish men’s team are crap at penalties too?
