UEFA Women's Euros | England win final on penalties!

Not even sure. There are clear signs that at the higher levels the women's game is levelling off. Since we got into the knock-out stages that's the message I'm getting. I don't think we will again see the flagrant domination of a team like the U.S.A.
Good, because USA team became extremely obnoxious. Something that one or England players should take note of.

Unfortunately, big lionesses games brings casual watchers and their toxic masculinity into the womens forum and it’s always a grim read
It may happen, but I don't recall, someone like Ellen White, Russo, or Bunny basically refusing to take a penalty and wanting someone else to do it .I've seen in the men's game. You may know who I am referring to also.

Let our 7 year old stay up to watch the first half last night, she went to bed when it was 2-0
Put the highlights on for her this morning and didn't tell her the final score. Was great to watch her face light up.

I've gone from having zero interest in women's football to being a strong supporter all in 6 months. Getting a season ticket for City womens this morning for me and her. Not sure what's happened to me, but I'm ready to scrap anyone that tries taking the piss out of the women's game haha! On top of that, I detest the mens England national team, but here I am cheering on the Lionesses, as if it's City, for my daughter.

Just on the penalties and how poor they were - I've seen Haaland take worse penalties and Marmoush's one in the final was crap. The Sweden keeper went the right way a few times, she did her homework. And some of the England penalties it was less about poor technique and more about being half arsed - James and the rag player.

It's one of those things as well isn't it, one or two start to miss and the doubt starts to spread among the others, they start to worry, start to think they need to hit the corners......

Got to say any penalty that goes in is a good one, but all the ones that were actually scored were quality penalties.

If you can ignore the idiots chipping in here and there, theres a much better atmosphere around the whole women's game.

Found myself at times thinking Hemp "should have made more of" the elbow to her head, or "should have left a leg out" as she went past someone in the box, but I was totally wrong thinking that. It's more honest and better for it.

Both my daughters play grassroots football and the behaviour of lads the same age is an embarrassment in comparison. They really do learn and copy what they see the pros do unfortunately.

A shit penalty is a shit penalty regardless of who takes it , seen plenty of male players take shit ones over the years and get dogs abuse , it’s part and parcel of the game .

Yeah Russo's should have set the tone but I think James' half arsed one reversed that and got the players panicking. Even Greenwood, who seems like she's usually reliable, let her nerves get the better of her

And that's absolutely fair. Seeing some shit penalties and the saying the whole of the women's game is rubbish isn't though.

I thought the Swedish keeper moved before the ball was struck on numerous occasions……

England were extremely fortunate to survive that game and shoot out last night, but they did and thats all that matters - its not how, its how many.

The pen shoot out itself wasnt a great advert for the Womens game; weve all seen awful pens before in both Womens and Mens games (Marmoush's at Wembley was shite for example) but to see a collection together like that was a rather painful watch. At least Lucy Bronze back to basics approach got the job done - Mead, Greenwood and Clinton in particular probably wont want to watch the video of their efforts.

England should really advance past Italy but beating Spain in the Final looks a long ways off playing as they are. Youd imagine the back 4 will look a lot different on Tuesday as well with Williamson likely crocked and Carter awful again last night. Pleased to see Esme Morgan get her opportunity last night and grasp it.

the swedish keeper just watched the penalty takers eyes and body position and other than the three that scored you could see exactly where it was going to go and she went there.

If you're in Manchester my mates have been showing all of the games at the Carlton Club on Whalley Range and the atmosphere has been awesome. Might be a bit of a late kickoff time to take her out for the semi but if england get to the final you should pop along with her

A back four of Charles - Greenwood - Morgan - Bronze seems worth a go, I'm not sure there's a way back for Carter now. Hoping Bronze's thigh strapping was more of a precaution, because if she's out too it's a totally makeshift backline.
