There are a lot of bots on twitter nowadays, maybe more so than real people. Its a bit of a dig at the aspects of twitter that are still "real", there is also a lot of sex related advertisement and pages that randomly follow people possibly as a means to get attention/clicks.

Nah, that's usually when the name isn't in the public domain. It's almost always rumours. When that recording of Mason Greenwood was going round, there was no obligation to not mention it, to the point that he had to leave Man Utd even though he was never convicted. You're generally prevented from talking about it on here before the accused person is arrested. When Mendy was finally arrested, there was a long thread on here about it.

As I understand it, if a disturbance is classed as a riot, the government ( taxpayer ) has to pay for all the repairs and losses incurred. Insurance companies don't cover losses in those situations, so in a way, yes, there may be political pressure on the CPS not to charge people for 'civil commotion'.

The perpetrators are facing a maximuml 5 year sentence for civil disorder, which their defence lawyers are advising them to avoid by pleading guilty, as most have, so they are receiving 2 to 3 years in prison as a result.

As many are now finding out, given their tears in court, the effects of their few minutes of madness is ruining their, and their families, lives. It's a steep learning curve for many with no previous convictions. They now find themselves remanded in custody before being tried, sentenced, then learning not to drop the soap in the shower room in one of in His Majesty's hotels.

It's not a stepped appraoch. It's the weight of the law coming down hard on those involved. It's not always a slapped wrist, as some, maybe those involved might think, because similar sentences were handed out in 2011 as those found guilty of nicking cheese sandwiches from Boots found out.

I imagine it's more a case of them going for the easier to prove crimes, because the priority here was to get people convicted quickly. The main deterrent for a lot of these rioters is seeing people getting serious time. It's not a surprise that it's seemingly stopped after the first big convictions have been coming through.
 
Great to see the real, genuine and decent people of the UK taking control of the streets again.

Starmer has dealt with the situation well, serious jail time for these racist thugs and they disappear quickly, long may it continue.

Just get "Mr Robinson" put away for a long time as well as "Mr Farage", our country will be a happier place.
