UK far right trouble

I'm watching more livestreams and there were few United shirts as well present, thankfully I didn't see any City shirts. But I've seen few United shirts from both sides shouting at each other.
FFS that’s pathetic. Football allegiances are irrelevant in this. I can absolutely guarantee that there are City fans amongst the rioters. We saw a picture of a bellend with a City tattoo the other day who was rioting. There’s even twats on here who are almost justifying some of it by saying they’ve got legitimate grievances.

One of the biggest problems currently is the algorithms used on the internet.
You watch videos or read about "influencers" and you will be directed to those with a similar mindset, leading to you believing that there is a large groundswell of support for your position, when in reality it could be a very small bunch of extreemists

I've unfollowed maybe 30 or more people on Twitter over the last few days because they're posting or reposting racist shite. A couple of people I knew personally and was friendly with as well.

Hopefully one good thing that might come out of all this is that maybe some people who have had some sympathy with the views being expressed about immigrants, etc., might think twice after seeing the actions of some of their fellow travellers.

Another is that the threat from far-right racists is now clear for all to see. I'd also like to see a moratorium on all protest marches for a month so that police resources are free to deal with trouble from anyone ignoring that.

I have never been a fan of twitter and was never on it until last year when I went on to follow my love of Ice Hockey mate and I've had to delete it again because by hook or by crook the algorithms will force feed you divisive politics at every opportunity.

It's so fucked up it's untrue.

The fact that some of the rioters don’t consider themselves far right is irrelevant. The protests/riots were incited by far right agitators like Yaxley, Farage, Tice and 30p which makes them far right riots. And if the rioters are attacking mosques and black/brown/Islamic people that makes them far right whatever they consider themselves.

Very much this.

I have concerns about illegal immigration and how we deal with it but these violent subversive cunts are not speaking for me that's for sure.

get the Boris water cannons out, and while theyr'e at it jetwash the pavements around piccadilly, the place fuckin stinks

What are your concerns about illegal immigration? How does it personally affect you!. Can you tell me just one example of legal immigration process and route for somebody from sub-Saharan region or Eritrea or Afganistan, etc. to the UK? And what is 'legal' immigration, does it exist? These subversive cunts as you rightly call them quote and use 'illegal immigration' as their main motive for anger and frustration and resulting hatred and bigotry, so like it or no they share the same concern with you and in a way they speak for you.

I had the same thing. I was following almost exclusively academics for my job, and yet I still found myself being served up divisive shit about whatever the issue of the day was. Nowadays, I only ever see it when people post links on here, and it's just a cesspit now.

Football threads used to be alright on there. Now it's just a bunch of clueless trolls posting stuff like 'Manchester is Red/Blue' or some variation of 'Messi > Ronaldo' on posts that have nothing to do with them. Just the most banal crap imaginable. The new version of that is '115' on anything related to City, which goes to the top if you've paid for it to. You used to generally find that the top replies had a bit of wit and humour to them.

Social media and the 24/7 news cycle has made us able to dehumanise people we see on a screen. Whether it be immigrants or the rioters, these are other human beings with lives, families and worries like us all. The majority of these people you could probably have a chat and a laugh with, a reasoned discussion and maybe learn something from each other. Back in the day we probably would.
The amount of different personalities in the workplace and we still manage to leave at the end of the day without having fought with anybody or called them names, 2 minutes on twitter though and people go mental.

Elon sees it as his own reactionary right propaganda machine these days. I'm like you, I used to have it to follow academics and football and now every other post is a far right talking point. It's as clear as day.
