OP, you say you haven't heard much about them. Let me help. Here is their election manifesto for 2015.

My main gripe is i have no voice i feel and it angers me more than almost anything else.
These ***** are here to speak for us not TO us.
They are all bent twats so why not give this lot their chance to dig in.
Basically Labour have no identity and are wishy washy and the cons seem inept at best dealing with the banking issue and only seem to be widening the gap between rich and poor.
Both have shown distinct disdain for the people of this country
The traditional three main parties are making it damned hard for the disillusioned masses not to look at alternative choices.
They are filling a vacuum created by ordinary folk being largely ignored and ill-served over the last 20 years. Of course they have some bigots but not a monopoly by any stretch of the imagination.
Almost certainly they would be no better themselves but that's not the point as they won't get elected. Their purpose is to provide a useful outlet as a protest vote and - in so doing - to influence the political agenda.

I've seen Labour lose their deposit in some of our local elections. (No doubt Tories suffer the same elsewhere). That's how relevant they are seen to be. Where this is the case the main opposition to the Tories is either Liberal, UKIP or Green. Take your pick.

From what else i have actually bothered to read about them, they are extreme neo-liberal free marketeers and virulently anti statist. But mostly they are racist bigots with a little Englander mentality. Saying that in a political landscape devoid of any real personality at least Farage has one. Even if i think he is an odious ****.
