Can any of the 'offended' crew discuss UKIP's policies, or is it just the usual pish?
What's the point? UKIP will never be in a position to implement any of their policies. They're like the Superbowl half time ads - lots of hype noise and kerfuffle but they're not what any one is actually there for. The UKIPpers will be putting their tinfoil millinery on top of the wardrobe and sneaking back to the Tory club in a couple of weeks.
That's not reallly true. Besides the Lib Dems having a historical reason for existing they are a centrist party who have similarities with the right wing of Labour and "wet" Tories, so it's not unimaginable they could find common ground. Most of the other parties have broad commonality with either the Tories or Labour but have an additional dimension of having a Nationalist or Unionist agenda, so again they can find common ground.
UKIP (and the Greens) are on the extremes of the political spectrum. They would need to deliver on their "keynote/fruitcake" policies in order for them to retain any support. Otherwise there is no point in voting for them. They just become tinfoil hat Tories.
If UKIP did what the LibDems did and rolled over for the Tories on everything they would be wiped out in 2020. But the Tories are never going to let UKIP get any of their keynote policies through - ever. Even if UKIP negotiate well enough to get to the debate stage the Tories will withdraw the whip and allow a free vote and UKIP will lose.
