ULEZ Letter

How many daily drivers built pre-2006 do you think are in use in Greater London - quick look on Gumtree reveals there are a number of pre-2006 Ford Focus cars for sale for less than a grand. Its a bogus argument you put up.

That's the other thing of course - The government will give you up to £2000 to replace your non-compliant vehicle (£5k if you're disabled).

It was the present Tory Parliament that legislated for ULEZ. As they control Parliament, they could repeal it or amend it tomorrow, if they so wished. What is stopping them, if they think it's wrong?

That would be the honest thing to do. But as they are liars, hypocrites and knaves they prefer to be disingenuous and blame Labour. And guess what, many people blame Labour for Tory legislation.

(If anyone wants to say Labour would almost certainly have passed the same legislation, or very similar, I agree. But they are not the ones in control.)

People conveniently forget that a lot of Green stuff was in the last Tory Party manifesto. And if you voted Tory, you voted for it. You may not have realised it, but you did. Moral, read the whole manifesto, not just the bits you agree with.

10 years ago, total taxes from the motorist were £38bn.
Fuel duties accounted for £26bn of that, plus another £4bn in VAT.
A big %age of electric leaves a big tax hole.

Tax per mile will be here before we know it.
If only for non-petrol/diesel then fair enough as long as similar overall rate.
I'm never getting an electric car so don't care too much.

But this is the government we are talking about.
In the future....
Non-electric? Pay excessive fuel duty, even higher than today, in the Great Green Crusade.
Electric? Pay per mile, plus higher rates in city centres because we can.
Big electric car/SUV? Pay more per mile, because it wins votes from the greenies.
Hybrid? Heads I win, tails you lose, get you both ways.

Who introduced the ULEZ zone and then made a wider rollout a condition of the TFL funding agreement?

Fucking lol. Seriously is that the best response? It was a Tory (Johnson) who originally proposed this… the same Tory who you’d call cruel/heartless yet because it’s now a Labour mayor it’s fine.

Fuck me the world is on its head these days

Nail on the head.

I have literally no idea what point you are trying to disprove. You’ve found a number of pre 2006 cars selling for less than £1k, the types of cars that people who are on a budget buy. The less well off. So whatever point you were trying to disprove you’ve actually just proven it. And it’s older than 2006 petrol, and older than 2016 diesel.

A broken clock is right twice a day.

I seem to remember Boris was keen to take all the credit for Ken's bikes and the Olympics.

Only very daft people agree that air pollution in urban areas is a good idea, and nothing should be done to reduce it.

But because you can't see it, it's easier to turn a blind eye. But you can get out of your car and walk past a busy road and taste it.

where do you live and what car do you drive in terms of fuel and age?

Oh and that ruse is bollocks - the name on the V5 needs not be the owner of the vehicle. Every lease car I got through work had the lease company or my employers name on the V5 - mine never was. So any fines incurred WERE sent to them and they would have just forwarded them to the driver. Any ULEZ tickets that came in could just be forwarded to the guy who thought he was being clever.
I’m in Oldham, I have a 2011 diesel you know the cars that everyone was encouraged to buy by Gordon Brown! I did drive it to the FA cup final so that’s possibly why I did get a letter, as for the loophole if thousands did it to Khan imagine that coming through everyday to his office that would be worth watching, illegal or not. The guy gifted his car to Khan so he technically is the owner, same as I own my car but it’s my wife insures it, any speeding tickets etc come to me, same would happen with Khan.
The ULEZ is been massively expanded in London almost the size of the one in Greater Manchester proposals! It’s all a pure money making scam as he’s doing on the back of flawed and incorrect data which when questioned on he just doesn’t answer, it’s also not one of his mandates he’s just done this off his own back, the scrap page scheme is laughable and they know that people can’t afford to buy newer vehicles especially at the moment, the only saving Grace about the Manchester one was it didn’t affect private cars but I’m sure that would soon be introduced.
