ULEZ Letter

The stupid thing about the whole thing is that it's completely arbitrary. The technical difference between a Euro5 and a Euro6 engine isn't massive which is ironic when anyone quotes compliance. This also assumes that the vehicle manufacturers haven't cheated the tests and actually the technical emissions quoted are a complete load of bollocks anyway.

Pollution has obviously improved but Co2 associated transport emissions have barely changed over the last 40 years which proves that in terms of Co2 alone forcing the adoption of new engine technology is pointless. This isn't because the engines aren't better, it's because the engines are better however there are 100x more cars on the road.

We really should be helping people to go electric or use public transport but public transport will be on its arse for a long time so going electric is the only option. If I want to go into town today then I could take the bus instead of my car but the irony is the bus will pollute more than my electric car and cost more than a full charge!

Why are you talking about Co2?

The main difference between Euro 5 and Euro 6 is that:

Euro 5 engines focused largely on carbon dioxide emissions (CO2), while Euro 6 is primarily focused on reducing nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx).

Euro 5 engines required all diesel cars to have particulate filters (DPFs) to trap microscopic pieces of soot, while Euro 6 engines made selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or AdBlue systems mandatory for diesel cars to reduce NOx emissions.

Just heard Khan on LBC and he was quite convincing in his approach now that he has implemented the extra funding for the scrap page scheme.

Also mentioned the disinformation and untruths spread by the Tories prior to the Uxbridge bye-election and really does shed some light on how low they will go to stay in power.

I mentioned previously i was looking at buying a van but need euro 6, I’m on lots of van groups on Facebook, seems Mr Khan is getting his way the amount of vans going up for sale is silly, poor bastards in London are losing thousands on perfectly good vans as no one seems to want euro 5 vans, I wonder why!

Why do you need Euro 6 if you aren't making regular trips into the ULEZ ?

You can just get one of these Euro 5 bargains and then pay to pollute on the occasional trip.

Your leccy must be cheap and you must weigh a lot.

You do realise you don't get the whole bus to yourself?

Because when it comes to Manchester I’ll have to pay to get off my drive it do you think I should spunk £25k on the off chance it doesn’t ?

If it's not a daily driver will it be such a big issue?

There aren't any plans for a similar ULEZ scheme in Manchester at the moment.

You are talking about something that might not come in for longer than you actually have the van.

As someone who recently moved to London, and lives about 200 yards from the South Circular, it's desperately needed. They also need to do more to reduce the number of cars full stop, as it's choca-bloc 24/7. I'm currently just outside ULEZ, but will be slap bang in it in 3 weeks time. The level of cars and pollution down here is on a different planet to Manchester.

I've had to sell my car (back up north, as no one would touch it down here) and get a petrol. Ideally wanted an electric, but without any serious government help, it's waaaay out of my budget, and most peoples i imagine.

never hit the ground running,my guess it will be put on the burner within a couple of weeks then dropped for the next mayor elections in may, anti ULEZ gathering pace

This prick does realise they will just replace the camera's and he is adding to the overall cost of running the ULEZ scheme? Furthermore the camera's are all over the shop so you will just be lulled into a false sense of security passing a place where you'd expect one to be then find yourself in a spiders web

He's also filmed himself admitting criminal acts and inciting others to copy him.

He'll be up before the court in no time at all.
