Walker was never terrible, and certainly not at the beginning of his time here.

Aftr a good start there was a period where everything went wrong and he looked a liability. He couldn't be trusted. Then he propelled to another level.

Some great shouts already, particularly the likes of Book, McNab, Morrison and Rosler, all of whom would have made my list.
Some of the others mentioned I had a sneaky feeling would be good for us, eg Horlock.
I’ll add John Bond’s underwhelming signings of two unheralded and, lets face it, slightly peculiar-looking Scots from bang average Coventry City, and another from Bristol City.
But Tommy Hutchinson, Bobby McDonald and Gerry Gow turned out to be absolute bargains and were fundamental to our extreme turnaround in form, including our road to Wembley in 81.
All three probably left the club too early (albeit for different reasons) and continued to have decent careers.

At the time I thought " WTF are we doing buying Gerry Gow ? " What a player he turned out to be for us. Absolute legend in his short time at City.

I was perplexed when he fell out of favour. That half season at left back he was brilliant

Kyle walker. Didn't see it, didn't think he had the technical ability and the money seemed mental at the time. Delighted to be proven very wrong. Given what Peps turned him into, it's crazy to think at spurs he was seen as an attacking fullback that couldn't cross or defend. Arguably our most important buy under Pep.

Bought him as a DM, looked out of place there.

Moved him to CB and he became the lynchpin of the decade of resurgence and a Team Captain to be proud of.

If you’d have told me City would build a statue to him after his first season, I would have thought you were having a laugh!

I think I've misinterpreted the thread title. I took it as feeling underwhelmed at the signing not them putting in underwhelming performances.
