At the doom and gloom(horse and groom), dya know it mate?

yeah very well...used to work there behind the bar in the summer.....brougt up in gosforth till i went to college in 91.

FFS BN, how mads that? When i worked there, there was a guy called Stef that ran the gaff, twat of a Boss but learned some invaluable cooking skills from him, he's dead now so i heard a while back. The guy that owned it though was David Ross(Doggie Ross) and he was minted and had a few spots up and down the lakes inc the County in Millom,(hell fire)
he was blind btw.
I worked at the Woolpack in Boot and all, feckin wilderness out there man and right at the foot of Hardknott pass, bleak but fantastic location looking back now.

Yeah Stefan was a good guy, stress head, piss head much like his wife Karen who i got quite pally with, she was a fuckin good laugh. they got out of there eventually and bought the cumberlan hotel at seascale then Stefan died my dad used to drink in the horse and groom for a bit but when the gosforth hall sorted its self out went back drinking there. I played for Greengarth rugby club, so spent a lot of time in there, the woolpack was run by Fred fox when i lived there!!!!

Take no notice. The truth comes from the pits round Whitehaven. The miners that came from Workington only ever had jam in their bait.

I love the way they talk in the southern US.

Hate the New York accent with a passion.

Cant stand the proper west Befast accent, I'm from there but I dont speak like that. Its horribe

On occasion it is more comical than annoying but for the most part I find it annoying because of the slang used with it lol. As for using "gotten" I can be umm guilty of using it on occasion but very rarely.

I was there in 94 and Chris(shithouse) and miriam had it, i dont recall Fred and Anne having it though but i know(i think) that one of their sons died in boot, only young as well,i'm sure it was their son. I remember Doggie Ross wasx building something in Seascale when i was up there but i'm not sure if it was The Cumberlan though. I remember one or two from seascale and they were fit birds and all.

Btw, did Greengarth have their annual Jolly up in the Horse? im sure they used to all go when it was the Annual Steak and barbecue party.

Quite a nice part of the world Gosforth and Seascale, but if your up in the lakes go visit the likes of Ambleside,Windermere and Grasmere.I love those places, great for walking,a few pints, decent restaurants and some amazing scenery.

never got into that side of the lakes really, had enough on my doorstep, with scafell, wastwater, eskdale, ennerdale etc etc... we spent our child hood in blengdale forest, making bivys and camping out for days on end, we would walk up sty head pass and camp alongside the tarn and make brews for the fell walkers, in the summers we would earn a few quid hay bailing for the farmers, idyllic childhood, would ALL be banned by health and safety now I'm sure!!!! Its no surprise to me kids turn out so badly now, when you compare the upbringing i had (with pisss all money I have to say) to what they have now, all fur coat and no knickers kids upbringing now, they get all the top gear and games etc but don't have the chance to exercise, team build, get imagination, get fresh air and be brought up by the community like i did. I feel very sorry for the youth of today, many of them don't stand a chance...soz bit of a tangent there!!!!!
