Fair play to the guy. It's an epic scam and he can't lose.

Scenario one: 5,000 numpties do not sign up (very likely) and so he keeps the interest on a year's worth of >0<5000 numpties money. Fantastic.

Scenario two: 5,000 numpties sign up and pay a price well over its CPO value. Scammer wins again.

Scenario three: No-one buys at all. Land gets CPO'd. He gets what he would have got anyway.

Well done that man. If you can scam a rag whose hatred of City (or lack of brains) would lead them to hand over the money, you're alright in my book.
