Sell a player for £800k , buy him back when he is 4 years older for £89m + incentives , pay him £220k a week after tax (or £350k a week in real terms) over five years, and the club is being congratulated on astute piece of business , MUFC the club that never stops giving , laughing stock of football

I was thinking that Jimmy. They have committed £200M to a youth player.
The first team is in debt and now the academy. At least the business strategy is consistent.

Someone over there has made Swales look like a genius.

It is staggering to watch the reports. You would think he has been away on loan or something and they are getting him back, like it was part of some master plan or something. I hope it all goes tits up they haven't suffered nearly enough.

You think they'll generate an additional 800,000 (assuming their profit is half the cost the punter pays) in shirt sales from one player? That they wouldn't have had with Martial, Rooney, Ibrahimovic and Golden Boy Rashford?

On top of the £75m they already pay?

How many shirts do you think they sell world wide in a normal year? It was 3 million last year. That's a hell of a lot of year on year increase.

Here's a great article on shirt sales and the myths surrounding them

It also explains that any nob head saying Pogba will pay for himself in shirt sale is so wrong as to be idiotic.

Wouldn't most people buy shirts anyway if they were that way inclined. So they may put Pogba on the back this time around, instead of Wooney. However in terms of the extra revenue which Pogba would generate specifically, it wouldn't be anything like what most Rags would like you to believe.

A club get's a said amount of money before shirt's are sold so it wouldn't make any difference to a club how many were sold until it came to a new contract.

Yep. Their shirt sales volume rarely fluctuates.

Also United don't get a share of sales under 3m on their current deal with Addidas (mainly due to the very high up front cost to Addidas), so if any rag claims Pogba or Zlatan will pay for themselves, just get them to read that article.

Most clubs, City included get 10-15% of every shirt sold in addition to the annual payment. United don't as I've said due to the huge annual payment they get from Addidas.
