If you genuinely believe Stockholm Syndrome is what's going on here, I think maybe you're looking too much into it in all honesty. It's not that unbelievable that a really good team has the beating of a very average one again and again, regardless of who is manager.

So you dont have any explanation for his record against the rags then other than the rags are great.

Average teams beat good teams all the time, especially in the premier league, unless its Steve Bruce and the rags. You keep on defending the elephant faced one and the rags if you want to. I think there is more to it than just a statistical anomaly.
