Rag training session - Today it's tactics.
If pogba takes a free kick he'd still get it over them

What I find pretentious is this constant talk about manager philosophies and how idealistic a lot of the football world has become, whereas being pragmatic at times is almost sneered at. For example I didn't understand Guardiola's post-match comments or tactics in the Monaco game last week. There was no need go ultra-negative and camp in your own box for the whole game but surely there was a happy medium to be found, perhaps start Yaya in midfield to give Fernandinho some support.

Essentially you want your team to win leagues and cups, to do that you need to more goals then your opponents and to do that at the highest levels you need to play to a decent standard. Like I said we've played some good football at times this year but apart from Ibrahimovic we lack that clinical edge. After almost 3 decades under one manager it's natural that people are going to associate the club with a certain style. Ferguson generally liked wide players whereas Mourinho likes a strong CF in the Costa, Drogba, Zlatan mould.

It's all Maureen has ever done. Don't try and kid us all by saying it's like a plan B to him because it is not. He sets his teams out to stifle the game in any way that he can: feign injury, stop the opposition playing, time-waste etc. If you're happy to part with your hard-earned to watch the most expensive club ever assembled in Prem history park the bus, that's down to you. But FFS don't try to justify Maureen's ultra negative tactics on a City forum. When he's gone (probably by the end of next season) you plastics will be on here claiming you hated his football, how you wanted him out from day one, how you never got behind him, etc.

Face it, it's not pragmatism - it's anti-football.

For the last 15 minutes in anticipation of them bringing on Gestede next to Negredo and going direct. And it worked because they created virtually nothing, with the goal they scored coming from a Smalling mistake. Also got to factor in how it was our third game in six days and fatigue has been showing in recent weeks.

Stop fucking kidding yourself, you're certainly not fooling anyone here.

If Burnley did the same you'd be fucking crying about teams having no ambition, settling for a point blah blah blah. I'm all for a little pragmatism at times but 6 defenders, a keeper and 2 holding midfielders lol.
He did the same the week before at Chelsea when the little whining **** Herera was sent off, sacrificing Mikhateryan for Fellaini.

The ushited way lol.

I'm not justifying anything because ultimately I want to see United win, you generally need to attack and outscore opponents to do that. Mourinho tends to win a lot so I don't think it's accurate to make out that his MO is to park the bus and desperately survive as if he's in a relegation battle or something.

Well he did that at Chelsea to prevent another big loss and thus risk the team losing confidence which we don't need with so many big games coming up. The team stayed together and defended well after everyone's favourite ref Oliver sent off Herrera. The FA Cup this season was simply the least important of priorities.

Which by your logic have been;

1. Capital One Cup
2. Europa League
3. Premier League
4. FA Cup

How the mighty have fallen. It's a bit like Middlesbrough around the time they had Massimo Macaroni.

Lets be honest, United are the biggest club in the world but the number of their fans who seem "content" with finishing top 6 and winning the Rumbelows Cup and having the chance of winning the Europa League is quite staggering really. The number of them who are excited by winning the Europa is incredible. All of sudden its a major trophy and mightily important "as we have never won it and it would be nice to have in our trophy cabinet" I cant get my head around it, i really cant.

Could you imagine Barca/Real/Munich fans being "content" with a top 6 finish and a place in the Europa League??

His last 66 games in all competitions reads
Won 34
Drawn 12
Lost 20

Not great considering the budget and quality of players at his disposal, he's more afraid of losing than he is of trying to win which is why he'll always park the bus first and foremost.

Last season at Chelsea was disastrous really but over the course of his career it surely has to be viewed as an anomaly.

Yeah currently but he started off the season talking about wanting to win the league and he has repeatedly said that he doesn't want to play in the Europa League. So it's not like he's tried to lower expectations and am sure next season he'll talk about aiming to win the league again.
