United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Haaland getting stick but we’re just not looking for him, he’s making runs but we do the same thing over and over, knocking it out wide to the wings, surely it can’t just b KDB who can place a through ball to him
Most of the passes we try to play through to him are cut out, because we telegraph our intentions to defenders .... we need to be more cunning and vary the passes like KDB used to do ... at times he could be pinpoint with them, at other times he would take defenders by surprise by lobbing or chipping the ball through, or by using the outside of his foot ..... we also need to pass the ball as soon as we can, instead of dallying on it waiting for openings to Haaland to eventually arrive, because we are giving teams time to regroup or organise their defence.

Look, the standard across the entire league this year has dropped off a cliff compared to the last 10 years.

Liverpool - They won the league in August. 4th.

Arsenal - They won the league last month. If they were that good the league would be out of site by now.

Everyone is pretty shite, including us. I didnt think we were anywhere near winning the league this season.

Not letting this spoil my weekend...

I do feel City and Pep are building in the right direction, we may be a cup team at the moment because of injuries again. We needed a bit of luck with the injuries, but sadly, one is a season-ending injury again

A week in football is a long time and a couple of big results can change the picture again,

Still sick after that. Worst bit is that everyone knew what was going to happen as soon as the team selection hit at 11:15. Absolutely fucking abysmal.

Lewis might be a blue and a good kid but he's nowhere fucking near the standard.

Ake is fucking done and has been for a year.

A blind man on a galloping horse could see the rags would hit the wings on the counter at pace.

Could have been 6

Just fucking tragically shite.

When I saw the team I thought if we were gonna win we were gonna have to score 3 or 4 goals

But as it turned out our forward line of Doku, Haaland, Semenyo and Foden could still be playing now and wouldn’t have scored

All 4 of them were shockingly piss poor

If there was ever a time for a squad meeting, it is now. There is no hunger, no desire, no leadership. The fact we are even in at title race discussion, even if it's a stretch, is just unbelievable. Shame on arsenal for not pulling way already. Ar they trying to out-shit us?

Some of it is understandable..new players, injuries. But you don't win anything with performances like today. Get their full backs on a yellow, then back off? Are you insane ? Or just cowards? Pass, pass, pass , then a backwards pass to pay it safe, when we need a goal? Where's the personality, the energy, the desire?

Pep has these brainfarts occasionally. But it was compounded by a team hoping to coast it today. In a fricking derby! Criminal.

We will win nothing rolling into games expecting somehow to wipe our arses like today.

Yes it was a red. But even down to ten, could you see us scoring? Not acceptable, at all..
It was a mistake to play our two slowest players as fullbacks. United exploited this. Carrick said as much afterwards. Shit happens. We have to suck it up and move on. They outplayed us.

It's hard on the match-going fans today, but we don't lose many times to them anymore
Derby day is 2 games a season I never look forward to playing, even now we are miles better than them in all departments and maybe that's why

They'll be happy to be seven points clear. Against the City of old they'd be nervous, against this team they wont be.
If villa win tomorrow they could be 4 points off arsenal all about pressure and building it,rags could draw with arsenal next week we beat wolves and we are 5 behind villa win and they’d be 2 behind league isn’t done yet if we can hang in there pressure does strange things.. All of this is of course bollocks if none of the above happens..

Beginning to calm down although still mad. Shows how injuries have really hurt us this season again. None of that starting back four would have played today and I suspect Nico G would also have started. Injuries have also meant overplaying players so we lack energy. I wonder if after Tuesday and with Marmoush back Haaland is benched for Wolves, certain other players need culling. Guehi can’t start quick enough for me, certain starter v Wolves.

I can only assume today’s performance was due to the efforts from the Newcastle game. We are playing a team who play once a week with a new manager and bragging rights of Manchester at stake. Our players were completely knackered and intimidated by the atmosphere. Pep was trying to give a few players of rest, but the lack of quality from the fringe players at this level showed and played into United’s hands.
Unless the entire team took it upon themselves to collectively ignore Pep's instructions, his tactics also played a part, don't you think?

The fatigue factor is precisely why today's approach was difficult to fathom. Stretching the game like that, just asking for it.

To hear Pep saying that they had more energy - the interviewer should have asked 'well, that was pretty apparent from the off - why didn't you adapt your tactics?'

Can’t be a surprise to anybody today. That defence will get found out against all decent teams.

There are no leaders anywhere on the pitch. Far too slow, lethargic, timid, and Foden and Haaland miles off it for weeks

Just the 8 - yes eight stories on the BBC sport website blowing smoke up the Rags arses plus of course another story on the News website ffs. Team in Red wins football match.
We can only overcome that by another 10 years at the top and having another generation of ex-players that are able to influence.

Andy "not for me Clive" Townsend said in the 1st half, Ratface had the freedom of old trafford behind mbuemo and Pep needed to counteract this. He never did

Today yes, and dropped the defence 10 yards. Its not as if we had overlapping fbs to make up ground. We had 4 defenders that havent played together, two are slow as and the other two are young inexperienced hung out to dry. With 1 midfielder thats not match fit and up to speed to protect them. Its no surprise they ran through on goal mulitple times. Then pep decides that allyne had to come off, put ake there, and nor right back to cover for ake. He knew what was happening but he didnt protect the defence or ask them to drop deeper. Ait nouri shoukd of come on, ake in cb and nor in with rodri. Infact id argue allyene would have been ok had he had a 2 man shield infront.
Yes Peps subs shuffled the deck chairs on the titanic

Haaland and Foden the worst for being intimidated into nothingness, and Semenyo dropped an OT Raz derby performance. Yet he terrorized them when playing for Bournemouth
