United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Aké was a complete liability from minute one. He can't run anymore and he put everyone else under massive pressure. Amad waltzed past him at will, he didn't have the legs to support Doku either so he was doubled and tripled up on all game. Playing him cost us the match before it even started.
He set the tone after just a minute or two when he carelessly let the ball roll out of play near the half way line. And it got no better.

After the dust has settled, I am still mortified by the game yesterday. This had elements of Middlesborough away when the players had basically downed tools. Only United being shite and Donna being phenomenal, stopped that from being an 8-0 annihilation. It was THAT bad.

Any team in the league would of turned us over based on that performance
Fuck me total shambles
With fans like you, we will be in the National League if four or five years. Give the lads your support, see how the rags got behind their team yesterday

Or the wigan fa cup final.

Last season was the end for our title-winning side. Pep and City are now re-building.

KDB, Walker, Gundogan couldn't go forever. If you think they could, or that the re-build would be seamless, you are mistaken. We've done well this season to be where we are.
It would be easier to believe Pep is going to be here long enough to oversee another rebuild if there weren't constant noises about when he will leave us and who will likely take his place. Feels like that's coming sooner rather than later.

At best, he should have been a centre half. I assume he's there to provide some experience compared to the others, especially without Nunes, but there were issues against Newcastle with different offside attempts.

Not sure whether it's an issue from his operation last summer, but he runs like he's towing something. To play him at fullback was suicidal, especially with two other options sat on the bench.

I can live with us getting it wrong at the start and was glad to get to half time at 0-0, as I assumed we'd be able to sort it...

Am I reading this post correctly? City were crap in a derby match, didn’t even bother to put in any effort and you’re having a dig at our fan base?
No was joking but didn't write it well enough having read it agaiin. The one time they showed our fans everyone was nearly as old as me!

Recent or not, that's all history now.

We looked a million miles away from being a great side yesterday, and Pep just looked on cluelessly.

Mid-transition maybe, but Pep's system is tired, his insistence on a small squad, and his continued selection of 'favourites' seems to be burning some players out (as it did with KDB and Gundogan)

Our current squad looks a lot weaker than that inherited by Pep from Manuel Pellegrini.

Our current league position reflects more the poor standard of most teams in the PL this season rather than how 'well' we are playing. That was made abundantly clear yesterday when we were soundly beaten by one of the worst rag sides in memory.

I make no secret that I believe that hat Pep should have left City after winning the CL, 'job done, goodbye'. He is understandably tired and seems to be running out of ideas (or already has). He's unlikely to extend his contract at City for any reason other than money, and as such I suspect that he may go at the end of this season.

We're stale and inconsistent, and need a change. If not tactically by a revitalised Pep, then with a new coach. It doesn't matter if it's someone 'as good' or 'better' than Pep has been (that coach doesn't exist), just someone fresher than he has become.

It's time for change.
i disagree, we can’t keep panicking every time we have a few bad results. The club knew we had to rebuild, it might take two or three years or more, but this is, by far, the best run club in the World.

I've never made a secret of it mate! It's been my firm opinion for two and a half years when we won the CL, and even before then to a lesser extent.

The thing is that a lot of City fans are starting to think the same way.

It's personal opinions.

There isn a lot of Man City fans thinking that way! because like you the biggest moaners stand out are the loudest, to the quiet many!

He’s an impact sub to run at tired defenders, others will need to do the spade work, yesterday he did nothing, he doesn’t understand midfield. Btw he’s on £300k per week, outside of Saudi no one will pay his wages. Hes quickly becoming Jack Grealish mk 2.
Most inaccurate bollocks I have read on here for quite a while

Not sure what you're going on about with regards Ait-Nouri's attitude? I've not noticed anything untoward - partly because he hasn't been on the pitch enough.

What have you noticed?
His distinct lack of effort in the matches he has played, backing out of challenges or not even attempting to challenge half arsed recovery runs...even yesterday he received the ball roughly centre pitch....no one near him and he literally just hoofed it high up the centre of the pitch to no one....like something you would see in a kids Sunday league match....or some over weight 50 year old doing on the local rec....
Like you say he has hardly been on the pitch for us but in the small time he has this has really stuck out like a sore thumb

I know a couple who think the same way. I’ve questioned it at times but I still think we need to see how he does with this transition, it’s not been great to watch I agree but I think he’s owed more than enough time to see what he can do until the end of his contract. I’d also say, be careful what you wish for, I can’t think of any managers in world football I’d rather have at the moment.
