United (a) post-match thread

I couldn't agree more. For the most part, we have struggled to dominate like we have all become accustomed to. Things need changing, I'm not quite sure what....that's not my job. I used to thrill at the sight of City building an attack, now I feel as if our attack is muted, dare I say, boring. Change is required.
That being said, they wanted it more today and that's a fucking shame.

They needed it more and it showed. No matter how professional you are, it's going to be hard to play full pelt when there are other
competitions that mean more, at this moment in time.

If we had the best player on the planet for each position, we would not steamroller the rest every single year. 15 or 16 Prem clubs have a billionaire/multibillionaire owner and can afford top players. We're in an era when it's harder to dominate. In Manure's pomp, there was them, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. That was it. No-one else could afford top players - save Blackburn for two years.

Is it also the case that the level we have been at for the past two seasons has caused some burn-out amongst the players? It was almost two seasons without a break as we had so many players at the 2018 world Cup.
Also, while it might not be right to judge the players after the last two seasons it's particularly galling that the dippers look set to break our points record from 2018 and possibly the combined 198 points from two seasons.

We have raised the bar significantly. That compounds any drop off. Liverpool have been remarkable (also well assisted), so let’s see how they respond next season.

Fitness also plays a part I agree. Many contributors to the season we are having.

Someone tell me, how does Sergio's strike rate this season compare to any of his previous seasons with us ? Has to be right up there. I saw Sergio winning all his leg races today. Had we won 2 - 0 with 28 per cent possession at home, today, as a result of one blatant act of cheating, with fewer shots on target, any reasonable commentator would say we got lucky. They parked the bus and played like Burnley, but they have half a billion pounds worth of players to choose from. Yes, we were not at our best, smothered by the bus, but were far and away the better team.

Its hard to say that we were the better team - we a more attractive style of football, that is undeniable. much more pleasing on the eye and better quality - however they were today at elast more effective in their style - they created other opporuniteis which they should have done better from and certain teams style fo play (liverpools being another and wolves) cause us huge problems and always have with the way that Pep sets up - teams how can solidly defend and have pace to burn on the turnover alwsy cause us truoble.

the difference between this season and others is that we are less effective going forward...less creative and unable to penetrate parked buses - we have stopped getting in around he back of teams and cant go through the middle anywhere near as much.......rodri and gundogan dont help in this situation as tey go sideways and any sideways pass is always open to being intercepted and turned over very quickly - we play on the edge of failure all the time but this season we havent done it very well at times.

They needed it more and it showed ? A team picked from a half a billion pound squad that hits long balls and relied on an act of blatant cheating to score.

Our style of play is shot to bits. It's not working anymore. Our attacking play breaks down far too much too often and too easily. Our passing is laboured from front to back. Our wide payers have stopped making runs/movement off the ball. Our 2 CM's are happy playing sideways and backward passes. It's just not gelling together. Until we can re discover that razor sharp, Precise, crisp, passing and movement then this season has the potential to fizzle out.

the style is fine - its the lack of players who are able to perform it.....replace Ferna, KDB and both silvas (neither who are playing as well this season) with rodri and `gundocan and thats where our problem lies...

then you have replaced Kompany and Laporte with Ottomendi, Stones (who pep doesnt play cause he cant trust) and ferna (not a natural centre half) - both Laporte and Kompany are superb at defending one vs one -Ottomendi and Stones are not and Ottomendis distribution is awful - add to that no left back still and there in lies the second problem

We have just won a cup final, beat Madrid in Spain fa quarters also got 2 or 3 of our best players to come back and you all moan because the rags beat us so what,Madrid lost to Betis tonight don't think their suicidal, its facking football get over it.
