United (a) post-match thread

So what you're doing is just excusing the average performances....but it doesnt change the fact they were all average performances does it?

I'm not saying we need to win every game 4-0 but I would expect us to play at our best at least every few games.

I think people have forgotten just how good we were under Pep before this season and just how far away from that level we are now. Its completely unrecognisable.

Your opinion is they all was average. They wasn’t.

It was our best performance in the CL under Peo with our best defender unfit and a trio of top attackers in Sergio, Raz and Leroy not in form.

It's not about excusing the performances but understanding we play every 3-4 days now and we'd be silly to play at high intensity for 90 minutes apart from the CL. Villa away and Madrid away are apples and oranges.

So we have to play badly now because we are playing ever 4 days but we managed to play much better in the same conditions in 2019 and 2018.

It is way off where we were.....out better players are not performing or delivering. When you add players that are simply not good enough such as Cancelo or Zinchenko you are going to be below average.
What disappointed me was the lack of pace / quick movements / invention. Everything was slow and lacking in ideas.

Some of the results were good, the standard of our play wasnt

Also why cant you write "were"?

Standard of play in Madrid still was very good and I think you’ll be the only person to think the way you do. Always sign of someone losing. Thanks for the clarification :)

I think the UEFA ban has had a much bigger impact on the players than we admitted.

We weren't good at West Ham, we weren't good vs. Leicester but got wins, we got run close by Villa in the cup final and in the cold light of day, away from the excitement of the comeback, Madrid gifted us 2 goals and it's one of the worst Madrid sides in 15 years. They let us back into that game.

I dont think we have played a 90 minutes up to our standard since the week of the Villa 6-1 and league cup first leg. Which was about 11 weeks ago.

It's obviously had a huge impact on the club and the players would have to be robots for it not to impact them. Pep is trying his best to protect the players.

People are getting lost wrt to the big picture too easily. 8 from 9 possible trophies vs 0 from 9 possible for the rags. That's the really important thing. And we wouldn't have lost that game if Eddie hadn't had a stinker.
I'm not on about the trophies that I'm priveleged to have seen us win. If you come on the post match thread after a lame derby defeat, our third of the season, then this is what to expect. I for one will be right behind the team from here on in but that was poor. Let's not dress it up into something it wasn't.
