Fucking hell, they were as poor as ever yesterday, got lucky with two abysmal errors from City.

Yes they weren't great but could have scored a couple more first half. Even well below par we dominated most of the game but the areas that mattered, scoring and defending, we were very poor and in Eddies case abysmal. He is starting to worry me.

The basic problem is that we're trying to play intricate passing football through massed defences and it only comes off when everybody is on form. - See the past two seasons.
But if there is a dip in form then we struggle against massed defences from bottom six teams, never mind top six teams. Or even top eight teams as the rags were before we gave them a leg up yesterday.
We played the better football, but Ederson had more to do than De Gea.
Our team is in urgent need of pace right through the spine. We are so one paced it is scary, Sane has been missed so badly.

Whilst pep should shoulder blame, the players hung him out to dry by being utter shit.

the blame needs to be shared, but then how do you go from beating Real Madrid at their own ground to losing to 6th place united in a matter of weeks? Doesn’t add up.
Part of the problem is that we pick and choose which games really matter and which are secondary. Then we conserve energy and nurse resources for the “big ones”. It’s a risky game which could yet backfire. We visibly struggled to raise a semi - figuratively speaking - for the League Cup final.

Most teams do it to some degree, but usually by sacrificing the domestic cups, which are consequently becoming second rate competitions. However, we’re not most teams, or so we keep saying.

It’s not the first time a Manc derby has been placed in the “couldn’t be arsed” category. Nobody but JCLs and Spaniards should be surprised at the backlash.

If we win the CL by some miracle, all will be forgotten. If we don’t, there will be more dissent and infighting.

Was watching the Amazon City thingy to cheer me up last night. Not sure it worked ! But watching that should how much as a team we have slowed down and become predictable. We had Sterling on the right and Sane on the left both running at defender scaring the crap out of them them. Our passing and movement was quick.
No Pep seems to play all right footed players on the left and all left footed players on the right. We seem to always cut in from the sidelines never go outside of a defender. Seem a yard of our pace. We seem to allow the other team time to get their shape back , should they attack us. Personally I think trying to keep up the standard of the last two seasons has drained the players mentally and physically.

On a childish note why do the players at the swamp come out onto the pitch from the utility/groundsman entrance. Last time I saw that with training goals hanging up on wall was at the local sports centre ! I would have thought the players would of had a players entrance.

Bernardo touched on it yesterday saying its hard to get going when we aren't chasing the league and fairly safe in second, we are playing within ourselves half the time.

Hopefully we'll come to life in the champions league and the fa cup where there's something to aim for, still lots to gain in the last part of the season, it's not all doom and gloom.

missed that from bernardo, but its a little concerning when you can't get going for a derby, but can see where he is coming from that's human nature

It's not the fact of getting beat by that lot as it makes no difference to our season, but, it was our chance to really stick the boot into them
If we'd won, then that definitely would have been the end of their top four challenge and it may have affected their finances for years
They are the turd that won't flush and yesterday was the opportunity

The trouble is Derby’s aint what they used to be, apart from foden it’s just another game to the majority of them

That’s where they need educating then isn’t it and that has to come from the manager. The problem is the manager isn’t arsed about the Derby’s either

Correct really got to me the way he was bigging the bus driver up over the last couple of days

Yeah unfortunately for us fans pep treats the derby as a normal game whereas in the past I think our previous managers treated it as THE game of the season plus for Utd they treat the derby with more importance than us nowadays, it's gone full circle.

The bigging up is fine if you’re planning on wiping the floor with them, instead it’s nearly a tactic so it doesn’t look as bad in defeat. To lose 3 games to them is criminal, even more so when the only one we was unlucky in was the semi home leg. The other two defeats were deserved.

Need a beer again now

Spot we miss wide players with pace going on the outside desperately. Add to that where in midfield we had Silva still world class and willing to press along with KDB. Instead we now usually have Gundogan where 2 years ago we had a world class number 8. Also Rodri instead of Fernandinho. It’s not hard to see why our tempo and brilliant pressing has gone.

I hate to say this but for some reason Pep doesnt seem to want to really go for utd , so do enough to win not embarrass them. Whereas Mancini would want to embarrass them, he got what it meant to us fans. Pep should have gone with a weaker team against the gooners not utd.
