United (A) Post Match Thread

Nice to see you've got a more positive hat on.

We live in very strange times and this has impacted football in many ways. How things will shake out is hard to know but to throw in one of those old cliches: the cream always rises to the top and we can hope that will apply to City, because we do still have a very large, very able squad, a manager who (despite some of the nonsense written on social media) actually knows what he is doing and, as you say, has seemingly got the team back on an upward trend. To do that, he has had to make some adaptations that are a move away from what he would really like to be doing. People can agree or disagree about whether he has been slow to change and even then over whether he has made the right changes but I think people need to bear with it for now and see what transpires: this season really does look like it has a long way to go.

The season is bizarre and there's everything to play for. Too many people on this forum in particular seem to view City in a vacuum. Liverpool are as inconsistent right now as we are and their injuries are decimating them. Nobody across Europe is really playing with any huge amounts of consistency.

Is it just me, but all the pundits on sky, bt. MOTD, and the vast majority of written media, all to a man, slaughtered us, wrote us off for the title, but said United's performance was excusable!

Much as i hate to say this, they were above us in the league, by one point (god knows how), and they were the home team, although i acknowledge that is toned down by lack of fans. So how is a point away at a team above us, unacceptable, whereas their's was ok?

Notwithstanding, we had far the better chances, and certainly could, if not should have won.

Boring, predictable and like watching a charity game.
For me serious question marks on Sterling, Mahrez and jesus performing in the big games yet again.
That's sterling's 21st match against the Rags and hes never scored. Pathetic.
I've said this before it looks like Pep has a free pass this season with the main aim being his new contract getting signed.

United are shit but yet again Pep doesn't get or understand derby games just like last season.
Awful performance.
No silva no structure to our attack. The club has been set up to play through Dave. The through balls to the wingers, controlling the tempo and dictating play and pressing the opposition. They are either all crap players or have been so used to having it served up on a platter by merlin. We are not working because we have no conductor. So it does not matter who plays in attack. The club are waiting on messi to take up this role and prob expected him in the summer. Until silva is replaced we won’t be seeing the same attack. So it is no wonder pep has decided to be pragmatic and more defensive.

Cunts.

But this isn't a normal season is it?

You''re conveniently taking the context and background away from these results and also ignoring what's happened to rival sides. Collectively we had zero preparation for those opening weeks and hence some ctazy results and we weren't alone. We're not in scintillating form but we're looking better than the side that started the season and our defence looks very strong. Cancelo looks a top class full-back, Stones has recovered and Dias has brought authority to the defence. We still have some outstanding creative players too.

The team is human playing in extraordinary times and the trend is one of improvement.
Couldn't agree more. This is a freak season everywhere. Borussia Dortmund lost 5-1 at home at the weekend. Whatever happened to that world class player they had. I think he was called Jaydon or something. Liverpool lost 7-2 to Villa and the most negative Spurs team ever scored six at Old Trafford. This is the craziest time football has seen (other than World Wars)
City are hanging in there and I believe we will be strong in the second half of the season. We won't be losing many games with our new defence...that's for sure.

Sheffield United have been consistent.

Yes good points but frustratingly I'm bored of watching us at the moment.
I thought the Pep new deal may have buoyed a lot of players up, it seems to have had the opposite effect.
