If Akanji took out Rashford, it would be a free kick because he was fouled before he was given offside, but not a red card for DOGSO as it couldn't be a goal scoring opportunity as he was offside!

Them's the rules!
I think you are underestimating the ability of referees to interpret the law in perverse ways. If Akanji fouled Rashford and in doing so prevented Fernandes from scoring I wouldn't put it past them to issue a red card as well - and Peter Walton would agree!

He was the main defender for headed clearances from set pieces . Take Mahrez off an out Alvarez on .

Yes.

Stick Alvarez in midfield for the last 15 minutes and tell him to work his bollocks off like he did for Argentina in the World Cup. If there is a chance to break forward, tell him to take it, otherwise stay in midfield and protect the 0-1 lead. But Pep isn't thinking like that atm.

Let it go now lads
This derby will be talked about for years. If the Rags comeback continues then this will be seen as the game where they knew they’d reached a turning point. Many will also be hoping that it marks a return to the old order. I don’t think it does - but I do think it might mark the point where genuine competition between us and them returns.

I don’t doubt the ref, consciously or unconsciously felt his role in Rag history because it wasn’t just one decision, his decisions were pro-United all through the game.

Ultimately though we lost the game because of our inability to score more than them. That comes down to some very simple things imo. The inability to get the ball to Haaland, and, it pains me to say it, the poor form of key players - namely Silva, Foden and KDB.

At the same time, other players are doing really well - Ake, Rodri, Grealish. But because we’re not productive enough with the possession we’ve got, United could play like most of the teams who’ve unsettled us this season - wait for a lapse in concentration and do us on the break.

Taking into account the interpretation for giving a goal, if Ederson had deflected wide Fernandes shot, would Walton have given a corner or pulled back play to give an offside against Rashford.

My money is on an offside decision.

I make you right. Lino's flag would have gone up. Free kick to us for the offside. Nothing to see here.
