United (A) | Post Match Thread

Sadly the attitude and desire has gone but it's hard when every game your playing against 12 men.

That last one surely?

Rashford running with the ball (even doing a feint at one point) clearly affects Ederson's ability to play the ball??
Read he law here:

  • a player moving from, or standing in, an offside position is in the way of an opponent and interferes with the movement of the opponent towards the ball this is an offside offence if it impacts on the ability of the opponent to play or challenge for the ball; if the player moves into the way of an opponent and impedes the opponent's progress (e.g blocks the opponent) the offence should be penalised under Law 12
He doesnt stop or intefere with Ederson moving "towards the ball"...neither does it impact on Edersons ability to play the ball

Where the rule is wrong is that he impacts on decision making....but the rule above seems to only take account for physical actions

Can't beleive how quick they over turned the on field decision. For such a controversial goal.. Very bias. Imo you have to ask a couple questions. 1. Who was the pass intended for ? Rashford. So straight away he's changed defenders mindset and is the main threat and not Bruno. 2. Does Bruno score if rashford isn't involved in that phase of play? I don't think he does.. I don't even think he touches the ball without rashford guarding it and putting defenders and goalkeeper off.

Also Akanji just said he played Rashford offside, so from that point onwards when Rashford moved towards the ball Rashford was interfering with the play. Akanji was disadvantaged because of playing him offside.
That's the key point. Forget posting the laws of the game, you're disadvantaging the defender who has done their job. It's as simple as that. It's as clear as day to anyone who has played or watched football. Akanji did his job that he has trained every day of his life to do.
