Has someone pointed out that is not the current law.

The current law could be interpretted as allowing that first Rag goal but I do not think that is the intention of the law and certainly should not be.

In all the examples given in the advisory notes to the laws, it doesn't have anything that is exactly like the situation seen today but example 4 suggests to me that if they did, it would deem Rashford to be interfering with play because he quite simply is.

I even thin Rashford does flick the ball with the slightest touch

Well, we got thru first half at 0:0 after giving a couple of chances.
Our fullbacks playing very deep. Foden & Haaland no time on ball.

2nd Half, at last Cancelo & Walker further upfield. Enabling us to
play more passes in final third & pick up second ball more easily.
Eventually led to deserved goal, great passing, sublime work by
KDB, confidently finished off by J.Grealish. However, even in our
ascendancy we still didn't bring Haaland into the game.

United first goal. As soon as Rashford runs towards the ball you
would say he's interfering with play. The keeper doesn't know he
is on/off, keeper sees Rashford running towards the ball, keeper
sets himself for probable left foot shot from Rashford, then the
2nd player comes in who is onside, and kicks the ball instead. If
Rashford hadnt run toward the ball, the keeper could have made a
decision to run forward and kick ball away, to prevent Fernandes
ever reaching the ball. However, he has to stay where he is to save
a shot from Rashford. So Rashford is offside, as his presence in
running towards the ball prevented the opponent, eg Ederson in
coming forward & clearing the ball before the onside Fernandes
would have got anywhere near it.

Once the goal is awarded, City as a team, are frustrated. The home
crowd are up. It's a Derby. It was odds on they would get a second,
as United are running on Adrenalin & we are running on Lactic acid.

It's disappointing but not end of world. Just have to go again.

All said goal including Lescott

That’s bizarre
Like I said earlier I won’t use it as an excuse for the result but if that’s the genuine rule it’s completely fucked up

This is a shit result but City were the better team - however much you wish to find fault with their performance - until an insane piece of officiating let the opponent equalise. We should have done a better job thereafter of at least preventing further Utd goals. And I think Pep should have made a change before their first goal and brought Phillips on, taken Riyad off and moved Kev wide and clsoed the game out - not sat back deep but strangled them.

However, you cannot legislate for the appallingness of allowing that first Rag goal.

We all know performances this season have not consistenlty hit the heights but, so far, against top sides we have given decent performances but we have still lost two games to big teams that, on the balance of play, we should not have. Both involved goals for the opposition that arguably should not have stood.

The huge challenge City have is that they have won so many points over the last 5 seasons (has any English top flight side ever won so many, even adjusting for the change to three points for a win over the same period?), and clearly need to win and above long run average of them if we are to win the league again, that it has to be draining for players who are asked to play too mnay games (by the football authorities). We are asking for miracles.
Applaud you good try

It's their cup final every year. I fear a good fucking hiding to be honest.
It’s more the fact that we know they will set up with 10 men behind the ball and attempt to smash it long to Son and Kane on the counter. The perfect way to beat us. We’re facing a low block virtually every single week now and we don’t really look like scoring. 6 shots on target against Fulham, where we needed a soft 95th minute pen to overcome them, 5 shots on target vs Brentford despite 75% possession (and they had 8 shots on target from 25%), 3 shots on target vs Everton, 3 shots on target vs Chelsea, 1 shot on target today. The only league game we’ve bucked that trend in, in the last 2 or 3 months, was at Leeds, who are always as porous as a sieve anyway. We need a complete rethink and maybe 2 or 3 signings in the summer, cos the problem isn’t going away.
For what it’s worth, I thought the rags were shit today, there for the taking. With 78 minutes on the clock we’d completely exposed the idea of them being a genuine threat again, and then bang, two soft as shit counterattacks in oceans of space and we’re done
