United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

Why is anyone surprised? We are not innocent in this and will have been a party to any discussions. In short the football we once new, played by ordinary blokes in front of those who could be bothered to pay to attend, and seen only rarely in highlights by anybody else has gone.

I always remember watching a playback of City v QPR and Redknapp using the terminology 'Product' to describe what was possibly the greatest twist ever witnessed in professional sport. It struck me that rather than discuss the emotions from a fan's perspective, he was already thinking of its sales potential.

I'd already decided last season was my last after years of positively hating every aspect of the game other than our club's name and badge. I was going out of nothing more than addictive habit. In short, I'm just sick to death of the absolute saturation coverage of a game played by hissy fitting teenage millionaires who are managed and owned by billionaire businessmen. It's not sport, it's not football. It's nothing more than a front for money making being porned on the back of genuine football fans love of something that was their private escape on a Saturday at 3pm. Raped, Pillaged and Prostituted by billionaires for their own good.

Exactly where were these twats when football was shit?

It seems so much like a power grab by the American owners. Are we sure we are on board? We are lumped in with "the Big 6" and one of the 9, but is that by default or we plotting with them? They have consistently tried to introduce rules to prevent our progress, surely the Scousers and rags will just get together with another 4 clubs and bring in more changes to suit them or disadvantage us?

At least make it fun and try and be subtle you cunts.

Just another in the line of FFP, CAS etc.

You boring bastards 1980/90 wants to quietly fade away, the time when the 'big clubs' ruled the roost and the standard of football was generally fucking shite.

I wouldnt be so sure that we are involved in discussions , i expect we have been sidelined , the hateful ten are in on it imo, having parry in position was the plan and those two clubs have been cooking this up between them for a while whilst trying to take us down

Wouldn't surprise me if this goes through.
On one hand I almost hope it does so I can turn my back on football completely.
Its slowly been ruined and each season I get less and less interested.
If this goes through im done .
Might aswell watch wanky American football

The thing is if city is in your blood they have you by the bollocks if city are playing a league game I always want to see us play.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy winning it, but if you were starting from scratch there's no way you'd design a league with two domestic cup competitions, one of which only a handful of teams actually try to win. Between the Premier League, the League Cup, the FA Cup, the Champion's League, and International calendar which now includes the Nations League or whatever they call it, the football calendar is way too full. And of all of those one competition pretty obviously stands out as something that could be scrapped.
The point is that the proposed gaps in the calendar will be, one way or another, filled by more intercontinental friendlies and meaningless tournaments purely for marketing and not football purposes. No true football fan wants to see that.

"UEFA want to offer us 6 Champions League places. We need 6 out of 9 of you to vote for this. What do you think?"

Nah, an expanded Champions League, most likely.
