United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

I agree wholeheartedly with Prestwich Blue. This is a US style power grab by US owners dangling cash to the smaller clubs and taking advantage of an unprecedented time of weakness. Never mind chlorinated chicken! This would lead to chlorinated football! Franchises, no promotion without finances to join the elite club, maybe even relocation of teams as per American Football. I know none of those are in the proposal. I would just say "Beware The Yanks when they are bearing gifts'. Yes you're right, I'm biased!!

And they would “dictate its running in every aspect”. My reading of that article and based on stats is City are not in the 9 and not in the Big 6.
No. It’s longest continual. And if one of those 9 gets relegated they lose their spot and it would go to the next club.

Reading between the lines...

  • Special status for the nine longest serving clubs – and the vote of only six of those “long-term shareholders” required to make major changes, including amending rules and regulations, agreeing contracts, removal of the chief executive, and a wide-ranging veto including on club ownership
So six clubs can control everything.
    Contracts - TV money
Chief executive - back us or you're fired
Club ownership - nobody to come in and challenge
  • Premier League to go to 18 clubs from 20
Make space for games where the money doesn't have to be split.
  • New rules for the distribution of Premier League television income, overseas and domestic, including proposals that base one portion on performance over three years in the league
Keep more than an equal share. Stop giving £100m minimum to promoted clubs.
  • Two sides automatically relegated from the Premier League every season and the top two Championship teams promoted.
    Reduced chance of getting relegated.
  • Financial fair play regulations in line with Uefa, and full access for Premier League executive to club accounts
But not necessarily the accounts of the legal owners in Cayman or Delaware.
  • A fan charter including capping of away tickets at £20, away travel subsidised, a focus on a return to safe standing, a minimum away allocation of eight per cent capacity
Got to keep the atmosphere to sell the product.
  • Huge changes to loan system allowing clubs to have 15 players out on loan domestically at any one time and up to four at a single club in England
Got to stop losing teenagers to Bundesliga
